​ 6.​ Teachers reserve the right to allow students to use their cell phones or other digital devices for educational purposes. ​ 7. ALL PERSONAL DIGITAL DEVICES MUST USE THE FILTERED HCA-PROVIDED NETWORK FOR ANY INTERNET ACCESS. The use of personal hotspots/VPNs is forbidden. The following is the disciplinary progression for cell phone violations each school year:​ CONSEQUENCES ●​ First Offense ○​ Administrator and Parents notified ○​ Offense documented and shared with other teachers ●​ Second Offense ○​ Morning detention issued ○​ Administrator and Parents notified ●​ Third Offense ○​ In-school-suspension issued ○​ Administrator and Parents notified ○​ All on-campus cell phone privileges revoked for the remainder of the semester. Any additional violations will result in further disciplinary action.​ Responsible Use The following prohibitions apply to all use of technology, either personal or HCA-provided: ​ 1.​ The use of profane, obscene or hurtful language is forbidden in any communication between students, whether that language is written by the student, or is contained in media content shared by the student. ​ 2.​ The possession or sharing of any sexually explicit, sexually harassing or otherwise inappropriate visual, auditory or textual content is forbidden. ​ 3.​ The use of digital technology by any HCA student to bully, taunt, embarrass, demean or harass any other HCA student, whether such activity is initiated on or off campus, is forbidden. Whether or not an individual initiated such communication, the maintenance or further sharing of such content will be considered to be a separate and similar offense. ​ 4.​ All filming, photographing or recording while at school during the school day without a teacher’s express permission is a violation of this policy. ​ 5. ​ The filming, photographing or recording of any individual without their knowledge and permission will be considered to be a breach of the privacy rights of that person. Any such material will not be copied or shared and will be erased immediately upon request of the school or the individual filmed, photographed or otherwise recorded. ​ 6.​ The use of digital technology to assist in cheating, plagiarism or otherwise circumventing the intent of a test or class assignment, will be considered to be an additional offense to the primary infraction and considered as such when discipline is determined. ​ 7.​ Any attempt to circumvent or bypass the HCA content filtering solution is considered a Minor behavioral infraction and is subject to the regular disciplinary process. ​ 8.​ Students shall at all times respect the Copyright and Privacy laws of the United States and the State of Kansas. Students may not share files they do not own or have the right to share.
