The responsible use of generative AI in the classroom at Heritage Christian Academy is intended to enrich the learning experience while maintaining academic integrity and ethical standards. By adhering to this policy, we can harness the potential of AI to enhance education and prepare students for a future in a technology-driven world. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to: ● Promote the beneficial use of generative AI in educational activities. ● Prevent misuse and potential harm from inappropriate use of generative AI. ● Ensure the integrity and authenticity of student work. Scope This policy applies to all students, teachers, and staff at Heritage Christian Academy and covers all forms of generative AI technology used in the classroom, including but not limited to text generation, image creation, and other AI-driven content production tools. Responsible Use Guidelines 1. Educational Enhancement ○ Generative AI tools should be used to complement and enhance traditional learning methods. ○ AI tools can be used for brainstorming, generating ideas, and providing alternative perspectives on topics. ○ Teachers are encouraged to integrate AI tools in a way that fosters critical thinking and creativity among students. 2. Academic Integrity ○ Students must not use generative AI to complete assignments, projects, or examinations that are intended to be their own original work. ○ Any use of AI-generated content in assignments must be explicitly acknowledged and cited according to the school’s academic standards. ○ Plagiarism, including the submission of AI-generated work as one's own, will be subject to disciplinary action.
