HCA Upper School Student/Parent Handbook 2025–2026

●​ Always express your concerns directly to the coach, not to other parents. If you are unable to resolve your concern with the coach, please contact the Athletic Director to arrange a meeting between all parties involved. III. ELIGIBILITY AND BEHAVIOR Enrollment Status: An athlete must be a full-time student in order to be eligible to participate in the HCA athletic program. HCA defines a full-time student to be a student enrolled in at least 6 credit classes or the equivalent. Age: Any student, who reaches nineteen on or before August 1st, shall be ineligible for interscholastic activities. Any student, who reaches nineteen after August 1st, shall be eligible for the remainder of that school year. Any student who reaches sixteen for the ninth grade after September 1 shall be eligible for Jr. High interscholastic activities for the remainder of that school year. Grade: For each sport offered, an athlete's grade must correspond to the level in which the athlete competes. Middle School team members must be enrolled in the 6 th –8 th grade level, High School team members must be enrolled in the 9 th –12 th grade level. Academic: KSHSAA requires that a student must have passed five full credits in the previous semester in order to be eligible in the current semester. In addition, Heritage Christian Academy has established eligibility criteria for the current semester as defined as maintaining a passing grade (59%) in all courses. Check the school handbook for the most up to date policy for academics. Students that are academically ruled academically ineligible by HCA may attend practice but are not permitted to play in games and may not travel with the team to away games. They are permitted to sit on the team bench for home games in street clothes (not in uniform). Athletic Eligibility All students participating in athletics must be protected by some form of insurance coverage. All students are encouraged to purchase student accident insurance in August of each school year. Those who wish to participate on an athletic team must fulfill the following requirements: 4.​ Be consistent in completing classroom assignments 5.​ Maintain a passing grade in each class 6.​ Have a positive attitude toward school, your teachers, and fellow students

Students who have earned 59% or below in one class during the periods stated below will be declared ineligible and will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular athletics:
