The money will go to- wards coaching, mentorship, investment, and skills development programs for women in business in rural francophone communities and Official Language Minority Communities. The aim of the WES fund is to help double the number of businesses owned by women in Canada by 2025. The program is a joint project of the NJOJTUSJFTPG4NBMM#VTJOFTTBOE&YQPSU Promotion and of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. “The primary objectives of the PRCDC are to create and maintain employment through economic development and the development of businesses,” stated Eric Drouin, PRCDC chairman. “Today, thanks to the Government of Canada, we will strengthen our goals to promote, develop, and support women’s entrepreneurship as a lever for sustainable economic development, not only in Prescott- Russell but throughout southern Ontario.”

More women are making their mark in the business world in Prescott-Russell and the rest of Canada, and the federal government is helping support more future women entrepreneurs. “The women entrepreneurs and business leaders of Prescott-Russell make incredible contributions to our economy and community every day,” stated MP Francis Drouin of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. “From tackling pay equity to modernizing parental leave, this government is taking action on gender equality because when women succeed, we all succeed.” The MP announced, August 7, in the Village of Hammond, $955,128 from the federal government’s $2 billion Women Entrepreneurship Strategy fund (WES) to the Prescott-Russell Community Development
