Dear Iz and Sil,

Wow! What news we’re hearing these days! It’s begin- ning to look as if the war will end someday. The day is almost over now, and we’re getting ready to put our patients to bed and settle down to a peaceful night of artillery blasts and jitters. “Now and then a shot is heard followed by a great large t..... “ You know, there aren’t many people who can sweat on chilly nights. I guess that’s enough comedy. To tell the truth, I’m a hell of a lucky guy. I’m in no danger at all compared to the guys up ahead. You sure have to give it to the infantryman. I’m not ashamed to say that I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes. I haven’t received any mail in a month, and I’m getting quite anxious to know what’s going on at home. At any rate, I hope that you are all well. That will be all for now. Take it easy.
