Definite Results in a Big Prison As the worker walks up the broad driveway to the prison, he thinks of the many heavy-hearted men who have walked the same path, hut his heart is cheered a s h e SAN QUENTIN thinks of the Lord PRISON WORK who is able to Loren S. Hanna “ make all things new.” After greeting the Captain of the Guard, the bolts of the great prison door are shot back, the door swings on its hinges, and the worker steps into the corridor leading into the inner courtyard. Bright flowers wave a greet­ ing as he passes along the path that leads to the chapel. In this large hall, with its desks and offices, greetings are exchanged with a few of the men of the Bible Class, whose radiant faces tell of the hope within their breasts. There is a little time before class meets, so we spend it in the Hospital. Here are lines of clean white beds, and in them men sick in body and in soul. (Jer. 17:9). The time is short but a few messages from the Word, a hand­ clasp, a short prayer, and the presence of God is very real to these weary ones. Toward the end of the ward a colored man is propped up on pillows, his face aglow with the love of God, for this ■saint in prison has been breaking “ the bread of life” to those next to him. The line is coming up from the mill, so the worker returns to the Chapel, and after a season of prayer the men rise and with hearty voices begin to sing: “ Christ has for sin atonement made, What a wonderful Saviour!” An opportunity is given for personal testimony, man after man gives joyful testimony to the power of God manifest

One man rises who has had a real Fourth of July celebration for he says, “ The Fourth was a new day and a day of beginning for me, for on that day Christ set me free.” Next God’s Word is studied from the book; of Acts. Each man has a copy foy himself, names each chapter and picks out and attempts to memorize the best verse. At the close of the lesson an appeal is made for any who Will accept Christ as their Saviour to stand to their feet. A man from the rear of the room rises and walks down to the second row from the front and addresses a fellow prisoner as follows: “ You know I have been talking to you about this thing, and I am not going to let any grass grow under my feet. Now is your time to decide, so stand up.” ' The man thus addressed did stand up then and there and confessed Christ as his Saviour. Another fellow prisoner sits down to instruct him from the Word, while the worker reluctantly leaves to meet another engagement1, but with the con­ viction that his two hours in San Quen­ tin have been well spent. Testimonies to Value of Bible Study We are never without opportunities for service during our vacation month. One of our women found this particu­ larly true this year, when she stayed at home to rest. WORK OF THE It seemed to be BIBLE WOMEN the time to get Mrs. T. C. Horton acquainted with her neighbors. She said "there was a little Movie lady with whom we were able to get in close touch and have some real heart to heart talks with, which we feel confi­ dent will bear fruit. Across the way we found a young woman who was being visited by a 7th Day Advent worker and who was get­ ting seriously troubled about what was right for her to believe. A few Bible lessons with her straightened it all out,
