Exceptional Smiles @ Landerbrook August 2019

An Easier Way to Maintain a Healthy Smile

Why are hygiene appointments important? Most patients refer to their six months hygiene appointment as a “teeth cleaning.” This is technically true, but your hygienist does so much more for your oral health during this appointment. In addition to cleaning your teeth, we also inspect your teeth for decay using dental X-rays, intraoral pictures, and a clinical exam by one of the doctors. During your hygiene appointment, we can also do an oral cancer screening, a periodontal health assessment, and a fluoride treatment as needed. The goal for this appointment is to identify connections between your oral health and your overall health.

You might have noticed some new messages from our office recently, especially if you haven’t scheduled your next hygiene appointment. Don’t worry, we promise you’re not going to be flooded by spam emails and calls from the office. Exceptional Smiles @ Landerbrook is automating our scheduling process, so we can spend more time with patients while they’re here and less time on administrative tasks. We encourage patients to schedule their next hygiene appointment after their current appointment is over, while they’re still in the office. This is because it’s not uncommon for one missed hygiene appointment to turn into years without seeing the dentist. Patients who forget their regular hygiene appointments often don’t come back until they have a painful emergency that needs to be addressed right away. That said, we know it can be difficult to schedule another appointment six months out. This is why our new system will send you occasional reminders via email, mail, or over the phone until you have the opportunity to check your calendar and schedule that next appointment. The goal is to achieve a regular, consistent schedule for all patients. Consistency will help your teeth stay cleaner, last longer, and prevent painful problems from developing.

We have many convenient options for scheduling your next appointment.
