Optica Optica, previously known as OSA, stands as a pivotal global industry network in the optics and photonics sector. It excels in fostering meaningful connections among businesses, offering our corporate members access to potential partners, suppliers, customers, investors, and top talent. Optica's influence is further amplified through its industry-centric events and comprehensive market data resources. This organization, rooted in a century-long history, now primarily focuses on driving industrial growth and innovation. It leverages its extensive network and expertise to facilitate market expansion and technological advancements, positioning itself as a vital catalyst for businesses in the dynamic field of optics and photonics. Passcomm Passcomm – powered by Netceed - provides a range of high performance fibre optic components. We are the UK & Ireland partner for DIAMOND SA, the Swiss manufacturer of fibre optic connectors and interconnects. Diamond invented their Active Core Alignment process to produce low insertion loss/high return loss helping to maintain signal-to-noise ratios for those applications involving small signal levels. Patchcord and pigtails are available for a range of fibre types across wavelengths from UV to NIR. For requirements needing polarisation maintaining or polarising connectors, DIAMOND offer the PM and PM+ connectors with up to 30dB PER. Small form factor connectors with high mechanical stability suitable for demanding environments at high and low temperatures, including space qualified connectors are offered. DIAMOND have a library of multi-fibre ferrule designs and the capability to offer customised solutions. Also available are high optical power handling InGaAs PINs and photoreceivers for ultrafast digital communications. SET (Smart Equipment Technology) SET, Smart Equipment Technology, is a world leading supplier of High Accuracy Flip-Chip Bonders and versatile Nanoimprint Lithography (NIL) solutions. Since 1975, we have been designing and manufacturing semiconductor equipment dedicated to high precision applications. We accompany laboratories and industries of semiconductor, which look for a high precision and an important reliability in the assembly of their components in their projects. With Flip-Chip Bonders installed worldwide, SET is globally renowned for the unsurpassed sub-micron accuracy and the flexibility of its equipment. Ranging from manual loading to fully automated version, our Flip-Chip Bonders cover a wide range of bonding applications and offer the unique ability to handle and bond fragile and small components onto substrate up to 300 mm. Thorlabs Thorlabs, a vertically integrated photonics products manufacturer, was founded in 1989 to serve the laser and electro-optics research market. As that market has spawned a multitude of technical innovations, Thorlabs has extended its core competencies in an effort to play an ever-increasing role to serve the Photonics Industry at the research end, as well as the industrial, life science, medical, and defense segments. The organization’s highly integrated and diverse manufacturing assets include semiconductor fabrication of Fabry-Perot, DFB, and VCSEL lasers; fiber towers for drawing both silica and fluoride glass optical fibers; MBE/MOCVD epitaxial wafer growth reactors; extensive glass and metal fabrication facilities; advanced thin film deposition capabilities; and optomechanical and optoelectronic shops. UKTIN UKTIN is the innovation network for the UK telecoms sector, bringing together industry, academia, and government to catalyse telecoms R&D investment, cooperation, and commercialisation. Founded in 2022, it is delivered by a consortium of four partners - Digital Catapult, Cambridge Wireless, University of Bristol, and WM5G. UKTIN is funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to drive the 5G Supply Chain Diversification Strategy and provide support for supply chain diversification in UK telecoms. It will work towards this goal by strengthening UK capabilities in open telecoms, attracting overseas companies and talent, facilitating indigenous supply chain development, catalysing public and private investment, and proactively promoting UK capability internationally.
