time towards something you love”. “As a Year 9, I was quite laid- back and went with the flow. You need to find your passion as early as possible as time is of the essence. I did not expect to rise through the ranks of athletics so quickly. Now that I have seen what I am capable of, I am working relentlessly in the off-season. The next challenge is the nationals in December, but I will have to narrow down my number of events, so definitely the 200m and possibly the triple jump. “It is important not to worry about the expectations around you – what people may say or think of you – just work as hard as you physically and mentally can. It is a lot of hard work behind the scenes, but it is my faith in God that has brought me this far.”
