Brian Recalls a Perfect Halloween Night With the Colts
When October rolls around, most people are planning for Halloween parties, movie marathons, and their choice of costume, but some of us are instead neck-deep in football season! While I have plenty of Halloween memories that are near to my heart, I will never forget one when the Colts were playing that Oct. 31 night. The orange leaves were falling, and my brother had come to town, and there is nothing better than seeing your family after time apart. This was back when my son, Zach, was still trick-or-treating, so despite the Colts game being on, my brother and I hit the neighborhood streets to follow Zach in his candy escapades. We would never miss Zach’s Halloween trek from door to door, and the crisp weather made it a perfect October day from dusk to night. Zach was more than pleased to show off his Peyton Manning costume! Besides the fact it was a perfect autumn night with my brother and son, the Colts game could be heard from nearly every house on our block. As we passed by each front door, we could listen to the game’s announcers and keep up to date on the Colts’ performance. With the sounds of the football game, neighbors cheering, and kids trick-or- treating, it was the perfect scene for an ideal Halloween. Now, my son is all grown up, and we no longer knock on each door for candy. While times have indeed passed, I still hold onto memories like these. What are your favorite Halloween memories?
