Bible Teaching Opening up the Word of God The Perversion of Grace
sorry for disobeying our Father in heaven? Re- pentance comes from the Greek word “Metanoia,” which means a one-hundred and eighty degree change of direction. If we are new in Christ we must depart from iniq- uity and turn toward God and away from sin. “Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniq- uity.” (2 Timothy 2:19 KJV) So why is there so lit-
By Rev. Christopher B. Cain August 2024 “What shall we say then? Shall we cont inue
in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Ro- mans 6:1-2 KJV). We have a problem in the American Church that needs to be ad- dressed. We have spi- raled away from anything that can be considered sound doc- trine in the spirit of
written rule that we do not judge the ac- tions and the fruits of anyone else if they do not judge us. Anyone who attempts to call sin for what it is gets met with a dis- torted use of “Judge not lest ye be judged.” (Matthew 7:1 KJV). God laid His life down for us, that we could be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
compromise. We have a greater fear of man than we have a fear of the Great and Almighty God. We have perverted the great price of Grace into a license to sin. The problem is as simple as cloaking our own sin by way of tolerating the sin of everyone else. If you think about it, it is easy to get away with sin if we fail to hold anyone accountable. It is an un-
tle focus on repentance, and on turning away from our sin? I submit we have perverted Grace to turn Grace into a li- cense to sin. The Apostle Paul make it clear in Romans 6:1-2, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” God Forbid! Yet we ex- port cheap and unbiblical perversions of Christianity to all points of the globe. Jude gives us the answer to our prob- lem, “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old or- dained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into las- civiousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1:4 KJV) Wolves have crept into the pulpit, and among the flock. I understand it is not a problem in every pulpit, but it is a prob- lem in many pulpits. Being brutally hon- est though, the greater problem lies in the apathetic pew. We have failed to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints because we are more comfortable with a perform- ance of flesh than a transformance of flesh by the power of Christ. The Bible gives us a solution, one that I call a Nobel Pursuit of Scriptural Truth, and is found in Acts 17:11, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readi- ness of mind, and searched the Scrip- tures daily, whether those things were so.” We must demand God’s truth be pro- claimed. We must be sure to search the Scriptures for ourselves. We must re- ceive and extend Grace freely. God forbid we pervert Grace into a license to sin. Email: AliveMinistriesUSA@gmail.com
it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Grace is the unmerited favor of the Almighty God paid for by the sacrifice of Christ upon the cross at Calvary. Grace is essential for salvation. Apart from the atoning work of Christ we could not be saved. We are recipients of that atonement, which is imputed to us by Faith in Christ alone by His marvelous Grace. Grace is needed by all of us, and we need to likewise extend grace to the saved and unsaved alike. However, Grace is not a blank check to sin all you want. Can grace cover any sin? Yes, grace can cover any sin and is freely given to anyone who would approach Christ in sin- cere Faith. Will believers fall back into sin throughout their walk? Yes, we will, and we do, but our goal is to sin less be- cause of the transformed life in Christ. We remain in a fleshly vessel, but we also have a new nature in Christ. If we have be- come dead to sin why would we wish to revert back to a life of sin? Repentance has also been distilled down to collectively mean “Sorry” Sorry for what? Sorry for getting caught, or
