Twedt Red Angus - Annual Production Sale [2/4/25]

Tuesday, February 4, 2025 1 p.m. CST • At the Ranch • McHenry, ND 9 mi. N. of McHenry, 2 mi. E. & 1/2 mi. N.

Welcome

Cattlemen, We invite you to join us for our 15th Annual Production Sale! We’re excited to present this year’s offering, which we believe is the best set of bulls we’ve raised to date. With many new sires to choose from, we’re eager for you to evaluate them. We take great pride in only offering bulls that we believe will make a genetic impact on your herd. What an exciting time to be in the cattle business! We’ve never seen this level of optimism before. With historic highs in feeder calf and live cattle prices, it’s incredible to see so many smiles as people walk out of the sale barns. It’s truly a fun and rewarding time to be part of this industry. As always, we’ve gone the extra mile to provide as much information as possible about these bulls. All of them have been parent-verified, genom- ic-enhanced EPDs, carcass-ultrasounded, and have complete performance data available. Additionally, we’ve provided ratios for everything. Ratios are a valuable tool to evaluate how cattle compare within their contemporaries, though they aren’t meant to be compared across herds. Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us. We stand behind these bulls and want to ensure your investments are working for you. We understand that every operation has unique needs when selecting bulls, so please don’t hesitate to call us to discuss the offering. I know this cow herd inside and out and can help you find the bull that’s right for your program.

We are passionate about raising Red Angus cattle and take our role seriously, knowing the decisions we make have an impact on your operation. Thank you for trusting us, and we look forward to continuing to earn that trust in the future.

Finally, we want to thank God for the opportunity to do what we love and enjoy His beautiful creation every day. God bless, and we hope to see you on February 4th! Sam Twedt

Jumpstart originally sold for $185,000 to Select sires and few other progressive breeders. We had the opportunity to purchase part semen interest after the sale. Jumpstart was one of the most impressive yearlings I had seen. He is exceeding our expectations with this first set of sons. His calves are low birth with an incredible amount of growth. If you want to add pounds to your next calf crop, take a look at the his sons. His calves also have excellent dispositions. We plan to continue to use Jumpstart heavily in our program going forward. Maternal Influence and Foundation...

At Twedt Red Angus, we believe that as seedstock producers, our cow herd needs to be held to a higher standard. The females we are keeping and selecting for greatly affects our and your future. We are putting tremendous amount of effort into developing a cow herd that is very maternally focused. Cows are culled extensively for fertility, mothering ability, disposition, feet, legs, udders and production. By doing this, it is our goal that we can build a cow herd that can supply genetics to you that will help you become more sustainable and more profitable. The cows on the right are the cows that we are flushing in order offer more of their genetics to you. These cows are proven producers and proven to work in our program before being flushed. It leaves a lot of the guess work out of the equation.

STRA FLO MARIE 7185

What a way to start a sale—with six of the most powerful flush brothers we’ve raised to date. These full brothers epitomize the type of cattle we strive to produce. Each one is unique in his own way, but as a group, they’re tough to beat. The brothers are impressive, and when you add their sisters, it gets even more exciting. Stra Flo Marie 4100, a full sister to these brothers, was the second high-selling open heifer at the North Dakota State Red Select Sale in Decem- ber, bringing $25,000 from Justin Morris of Georgia. Their dam, 7185, is one of the most stunning cows you’ll see—she’s deep-bodied, has a great disposition, a perfect udder, sound feet, and is just flat-out beautiful. She’s a must-see. Adding even more to their appeal, they’re sired by the $185,000 Bieber Jumpstart, who is doing an outstanding job for us. The lead-off brother, 4066, has been a standout since he was a calf. It’s rare to find a Red Angus bull with as much rear quarter and rib depth as this one. You can’t ask much more from a bull than what this calf has delivered. He’s a true curve bender, going from an 82-pound birth weight to an 886-pound weaning weight, with a -4.6 BW, 144 YW, and a CED of 16. We’re extremely excited about this true herd bull prospect.

4048 is an absolute powerhouse of a Jumpstart son who puts it all together. He’s been a standout all year and is out of a stunning first-calf Driven daughter who traces back to the great Laura 158W. At weaning, he was nearly as big as his dam, earning the title of the number one weaning weight bull among the natural calves. He weaned off at 867 pounds with a 121 ratio, despite being born at just 79 pounds. He ranks in the top 1% for weaning weight EPD, top 1% for YW, top 1% for ProS, top 6% for HB, and top 7% for GM. With no Ranch Hand semen currently on the market, this is your chance to own one of the first sons to sell. 4029’s dam, 2060, is a full sibling to STRA Sargent, who sold to Select Sires in 2023. Turkey Creek was a small herd in central Nebraska, built on many of the same principles we use to build our own cow herd, so we knew these cows would fit in well here. We purchased seven head from the dispersion, and they have not disappointed. His dam, 1906, was the high-selling cow from the sale—a pow- erhouse with a perfect foot. This Night

STRA LAURA 2185

4001 is another outstanding bull from one of the Turkey Creek cows we pur- chased in Nebraska. These cows have adapted well to the north and are doing an excellent job. Known as “Prince” by the kids, 4001 is a pen favorite. He was shown in 4-H at the county fair, where he won Grand Champion. Friendly as a teddy bear—but a massive one—this bull started small and never slowed down. He ranks in the top 9% for HB and the top 6% for ProS.

As one of the top donors in their program, 11Z has knocked it out of the park with this son. 3177 is the first of the two-year-old bulls, and he’s an impressive one. You can’t make them any thicker or soggier than this guy. Drifter set the world on fire last year with his sons selling across the country, and this bull is part of one of the last groups to sell due to limited semen availability. His dam is a direct daughter of the great Laura 158W and Seneca. The Seneca x Laura daughters continue to rise to the top, with full

sisters producing bulls as Lots 14 and 15. A full sister in blood to this bull sold in the North Dakota State Red Angus Sale for $30,000 to Berwald Red Angus and Herndon Farms. This mating works, and this bull undoubtedly has herd bull potential.
