Welcome to the 2025 Janssen Angus “Performance Brand” Bull Sale! Maradith and I are blessed once again to welcome everyone to our 9th Annual Performance Brand Bull Sale! We have made the decision to move the sale up two weeks and make the FIRST SATURDAY IN FEBRUARY OUR PERMANENT BULL SALE DATE! THIS YEAR THAT DATE IS FEBRUARY 1 and does not conflict with Iowa Beef Expo or any other sales! We realize that you have many options to choose from when it comes to investing in seedstock, and we are humbled and honored to be, for many of you, your seedstock source. Your trust in our breeding program and philosophy is important to us and something that we take very seriously with every replacement selection, mating and management. This year we are introducing an alliance with 4,000 head custom feedlot, Blue River Cattle Co., Aurora, NE. Manager, Bryce Franzen and I have been friends for 20 years and he has built his feedlot into one of the most respected in the business. They love feeding Janssen Angus sired/influenced cattle because of the extra scope, power, muscle, structural integrity and ability to grade. If you are interested in selling your calves privately or want to custom feed your cattle in partnership with Blue River Cattle Co., please call Bryce at 308-520-1937. We culled the bulls harder than ever this year, this group does not have a bottom end, every bull in the sale is a genuine breeding piece that you can take home with pride. The cow herd behind this set of bulls is backed by time tested, reliable and valuable genetics, and we are proud to stand behind each of them. You will find great opportunity with every turn of the page this year, starting with the newest sire group by EZAR Gettysburg and EZAR Spurs Up who add Marbling in a real-world package. Or Brooking Steadfast , whose sons will sire extremely productive and attractive replacement heifers. And, if you need heifer bulls, look no further than the first ever sons to sell from the $150,000 Coleman Below Zero ! You are invited to call me anytime, or better yet, stop in for a tour of the sale bulls! Thank you again for your devoted support of our program! Jon and Maradith – 515-468-8221

JANSSEN ETHELDA FAMILY – LOTS 1 – 4

MEAD TOREBY QUEEN R445 – Dam of Lots 1 through 4.

The long enduring Ethelda family that produced Lots 1 through 4 is built on a foundation of powerful performance genetics. The donor dam, Mead Toreby Queen R445, sold one-half interest for $26,000 for a $52,000 valuation to Southall Angus of Tennessee as the top-valued female of the 2024 Janssen Angus Mature Cow Herd Dispersal where she produced a $9,000 embryo flush along with heifer calves selling for $8,500, $8,000, $7,000 and $7,000. This magnificent and massive bodied Janssen foundation donor by the ABS Global Pathfinder Sire Basin Payweight 1682 was produced from a Pathfinder Dam who earned a progeny weaning ratio of 111 on five calves at Mead Angus, featuring a pedigree that stacks multiple generations of highly proven Pathfinder Sires from one of the greatest proven cow families of all-time. This incredible Ethelda donor carries the Toreby name that ties to the early performance roots developed in the T.E. and Edith Lagerstrom herd of the 1960s that served as the foundation of Pioneer Beef Cattle in the 1970s, and later for legendary master breeder Don Grace. The incredible fifth dam of these bulls, DBCS Toreby Queen Z391, was the top-selling female of the DBCS Dispersal where son, DBCS Legacy, was selected by a coalition of leading breeders as the $30,000 top-selling Lot 1 bull after recording a 205-day weight of 783 pounds for a weaning ratio of 110, a 365-day weight of 1,498 pounds for yearling ratio of 116 and an average daily gain of 4.47, a frame score of 7.5 and yearling scrotal circumference of 44.0 cm, and he went on to be an outstanding proven sire of outcross performance and maternal genetics with well-documented progeny carcass excellence. The eighth dam, DBCS 1F 7116, was the result of stacking the RR Rito 707 sons PBC 707 1M F0203 and Futoro 0045.

Lots 1 - 4 are from the Janssen Ethelda family that rose to fame in the legendary Pioneer Beef Cattle performance herd.

RR RITO 707 – Foundation sire in the cow family of Lots 1 through 4.
