JANSSEN ETHELDA FAMILY – LOTS 1 – 4
MEAD TOREBY QUEEN R445 – Dam of Lots 1 through 4.
The long enduring Ethelda family that produced Lots 1 through 4 is built on a foundation of powerful performance genetics. The donor dam, Mead Toreby Queen R445, sold one-half interest for $26,000 for a $52,000 valuation to Southall Angus of Tennessee as the top-valued female of the 2024 Janssen Angus Mature Cow Herd Dispersal where she produced a $9,000 embryo flush along with heifer calves selling for $8,500, $8,000, $7,000 and $7,000. This magnificent and massive bodied Janssen foundation donor by the ABS Global Pathfinder Sire Basin Payweight 1682 was produced from a Pathfinder Dam who earned a progeny weaning ratio of 111 on five calves at Mead Angus, featuring a pedigree that stacks multiple generations of highly proven Pathfinder Sires from one of the greatest proven cow families of all-time. This incredible Ethelda donor carries the Toreby name that ties to the early performance roots developed in the T.E. and Edith Lagerstrom herd of the 1960s that served as the foundation of Pioneer Beef Cattle in the 1970s, and later for legendary master breeder Don Grace. The incredible fifth dam of these bulls, DBCS Toreby Queen Z391, was the top-selling female of the DBCS Dispersal where son, DBCS Legacy, was selected by a coalition of leading breeders as the $30,000 top-selling Lot 1 bull after recording a 205-day weight of 783 pounds for a weaning ratio of 110, a 365-day weight of 1,498 pounds for yearling ratio of 116 and an average daily gain of 4.47, a frame score of 7.5 and yearling scrotal circumference of 44.0 cm, and he went on to be an outstanding proven sire of outcross performance and maternal genetics with well-documented progeny carcass excellence. The eighth dam, DBCS 1F 7116, was the result of stacking the RR Rito 707 sons PBC 707 1M F0203 and Futoro 0045.
Lots 1 - 4 are from the Janssen Ethelda family that rose to fame in the legendary Pioneer Beef Cattle performance herd.
