Women in Music

Performing Arts Showcase Semester 2, 2025

Good evening, On behalf of The Lakes South Morang College, I ’ d like to extend a very warm welcome to our 2025 Semester 2 Performing Arts Showcase – Women in Music . Tonight ’ s showcase is a celebration of the powerful and influential role women have played in shaping the music industry. From timeless icons to contemporary trailblazers, women in music have challenged conventions, broken barriers, and inspired generations. Our students – from Prep through to Year 12 – honour their stories through an exciting program of music and dance performances that reflect their creativity, talent, and passion. We are incredibly proud to present work from across

our entire school community, with students from many year levels sharing the stage. Whether it ’ s a joyful dance number from our youngest performers or a moving tribute by our senior musicians, tonight ’ s showcase highlights the diversity and depth of talent within our College. A very special thank you goes to Lakes alumni Mischa Wright, who has worked closely with our students in preparation for tonight ’ s event. Mischa's commitment to the arts and her generous support of our performers has brought so much energy and professionalism to this showcase. It's always inspiring to see former students return and give back to the community, and we are deeply grateful for her contribution. We would also like to acknowledge the incredible work of our Music team – Miles De Cartaret, Alina Agaronyan, and Marc Heenan – for their tireless efforts in guiding and supporting our students throughout this process. Their passion and dedication are the heartbeat of everything you ’ ll see on stage tonight. A heartfelt shout out also to Lucy MacGregor, who worked extensively with our senior music students earlier this year. Though she ’ s currently travelling through Europe, her influence and creative direction remain a key part of tonight ’ s performances. Events like this are only made possible through the collective efforts of our Performing Arts team, school staff, the PRACC crew, and of course, our amazing students – all of whom have brought extraordinary commitment and energy to this production. So please, sit back, soak it all in, and join us in celebrating the strength, talent, and legacy of Women in Music.
