TOMMY HARKENRIDER is a blues and roots guitarist and educator originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, now living in Orange County, California. He specializes in performing and teaching American Roots Music and is influenced by vintage music recorded from the 1930s through 1960. Harkenrider credits his education to listening to countless records his mentors introduced him to. Mentors such as Lynwood Slim, James Harmen, Big Jay McNeely, Big Sandy, and Kid Ramos. He has performed and toured with some of Southern California's most influential blues artists including Candye Kane, Phil Alvin, Junior Watson, Ray Campi and Canada's Paul Pigat. Everything from Jump Blues to Western Swing is apparent in his playing. THE MEMPHIS KINGS are a blues and roots band based in southern California, originally formed over fifteen years ago with the intent to be a support band for touring musicians. The band’s sound has been influenced by the musicians they have supported. The band consists of guitarist Tommy Harkenrider, drummer Ron Felton, bassist Joe Jazdweski, and Mando Dorame on tenor sax. Individually it’s members have performed nationally and internationally, and have respected recordings credits. Tommy has been an educator for over 25 years instructing students nationally and world-wide via Skype.He travels nationally and internationally conducting masterclasses and clinics. Harkenrider has recorded and written music for various bands and companies around he world, including writing and recording music for Apple Computers featured in Apple products. Since 2012 the Memphis Speed Kings have performed at festivals, concerts and private parties across the U.S., playing high-energy rockabilly music of the 1950s and early 1960s. Pianist/vocalist Dave Bennett may be best known as a jazz clarinet virtuoso, but he is also one of the very best interpreters of the piano style of “The Killer”, Jerry Lee Lewis. Guitarist Tommy Harkenrider and bassist Joe Jazdewski have worked with top blues performers, and drummer Hal Smith is a veteran of numerous traditional jazz and swing groups.
