The magic of Divine Dining
It was a truly magical evening at St Peter’s Cathedral on 1 November, as more than 300 people gathered for our prestigious Divine Dining event.
Set amongst the stunning backdrop of the Cathedral, the exclusive dining experience brought together advocates and ambassadors who share in our passion for the work of AnglicareSA – specifically our Turning
Point and Post Care Pathways programs. Turning Point provides safe and stable
accommodation for women and children escaping family and domestic violence, while Post Care Pathways provides support and accommodation for young care leavers aged 18 to 25 who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability or are at risk of homelessness.
Engaging with our schools
AnglicareSA’s community programs continue to be well supported by schools that engage with us through donations and service learning.
Investigator College staff and students demonstrated their generosity and power of giving during term two with events like a coin chain and sleepout in the gym, and by donating non-perishable items. In August, we received a donation of $400 from Year 6 students at Pulteney Grammar School, who had been collecting cans and bottles from home as well as the school’s café. The money raised went towards AnglicareSA’s Emergency Assistance. Woodcroft College and Pulteney Grammar School received high praise in the annual Anglicare Australia Pens Against Poverty writing competition. The competition invites students in Years 3 to 10 across Australia to submit original stories and poems that highlight the issues of poverty, inequality, and
the resilience of people experiencing disadvantage. The 2024 theme, A Place for Everyone, encouraged students to use their voices to advocate for change while fostering empathy and critical thinking about societal challenges. A total of 65 entries were submitted from Woodcroft College, the highest number nationally, with the school taking home three individual awards. Pulteney Grammar School took out a national award for the third year in a row with the Jackie French School Award for high-quality writing. The school had 50 unique entries in the competition and won a $500 prize. Our sincere thanks to all schools for their ongoing support and engagement.
