AnglicareSA Annual Report 2024 - 2025

Employee engagement on the rise Our annual employee engagement scores provide a health check for the organisation, measuring the level of employee enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment towards their work and the workplace.

Engaged employees are more likely to feel proud to work for their organisation, be inspired to do their best work, and generally look forward to going to work. In recent years, our engagement scores have improved significantly, rising from 70 per cent in 2022 to 77 per cent in 2023, with a further increase to 80 per cent in 2024.

Compared to the Australian average, which is just below 70 per cent, our score indicates that our employees are more engaged and committed than the broader Australian workforce. Higher engagement scores are linked to increased productivity, lower turnover rates, and overall better performance, suggesting that we are both improving and successfully fostering a positive work culture while effectively addressing employee needs.

Stepping up in a crisis When Tropical Cyclone Alfred ripped through Queensland and New South Wales, Believe Housing Australia employee Finn was among the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) volunteers deployed to Queensland to support the cyclone clean-up efforts.

For five days, Finn volunteered his time to help with recovery efforts, including removing tree debris from people’s homes or cars. He said he volunteered as a way of repaying other states for their help following South Australian natural disasters. “Other states and territories have come to help with our recovery efforts, and it is nice to be able to repay them,” Finn said. AnglicareSA and its housing arm, Believe Housing Australia, offer paid community services leave to employees, which can be used for emergency services volunteering, jury service, and Australian Defence Force (ADF) reservist leave. “It was great that community services leave was an option, and I didn’t need to take those volunteering days out of my annual leave balance,” Finn said. A carpenter with building qualifications, Finn is an Assets and Maintenance Officer responsible for coordinating with trades to ensure that repairs and upgrades (such as painting or installing new floors) are completed on vacant Believe Housing Australia properties ready for tenants to move into.
