IP, Paper And Packaging Board Partner To Encourage Recycling Memphis, Tennessee based International Paper has an- nounced a partnership with the Paper and Packaging Board on the Box to Nature campaign. Box to Nature is an industry-wide initiative to encourage box manufacturers to work with brands and ecommerce customers to print an informative consumer message on boxes to increase resi- dential recycling rates. According to The Recycling Partnership, an estimated 40 percent of ecommerce boxes shipped to consumers are recovered for recycling. While consumers want to be more conscious of their environmental footprint: • Approximately 2 in 3 consumers confess they do not always recycle • 46 percent of consumers would recycle more often if it “wasn’t so much work” The Box to Nature campaign messaging is designed to be: • Informative – providing instructions on how to easily recycle • Memorable – easy to recall messages encouraging re- cycling habits According to www.paperandpackaging.org , putting the Box to Nature mark on every box, not only helps cus- tomers understand how easy it is to recycle properly, it helps manufacturers move towards meeting zero-waste and stated sustainability pledges. With 62 percent of consumers expecting brands and the government to take more ownership, amplifying your brand’s own sustainability story is increasingly important. The Box to Nature mark shows consumers that box manu- facturers are part of the solution. “We are excited to participate in Box to Nature program, reminding consumers at “point of package” to empty, flat- ten and recycle. This is an important industry initiative that will help improve residential recycling rates,” said Bryan Hollenbach, EVP, Green Bay Packaging.
