Russell Kin Club reinstating Russell Winter Carnival

The event offers great prizes of $200 to $500 for participants in the Amazing Race, Games to Go, Russell’s Got Talent, Gold Rush, and the Decorated House and Decor- ated Window contests. opening ceremony, and auditions for Rus- sell’s Got Talent (hosted by RAPA). Thursday activities include free skating, shinny hock- ey, a ham and bean supper, Lion’s Bingo and the Russell Community Concert Band performance at Russell Meadows. Friday features skating, shinny, a teen dance, and the Russell’s Got Talent competition. Saturday activities include a large craft show upstairs in the arena, the Kin Club Amazing Race, children’s games and out- door activities, the Brain Freeze Ice Fishing Derby and party, winter camping demon- strations, hot chocolate in the snow, the
Family Movie Night at the Russell Commun- ity Sport Centre, and the 50s-60s dance RocKin the Night Away in the evening. Sunday features a breakfast, Little Ray’s Reptile Adventure, shinny, skills and drills with RMHA on the outdoor rink, Games to Go, hotdog lunch, Sparks mock meetings at the library, children’s activities, fiddlers at the museum, sleigh rides and hot apple cider at the ball diamonds, an awards cere- mony and finally the Scouts’ community campfire and luminary celebration early that evening.

Russell Kin Clubmembers Connie Johnston, Nikki Jardine and the club’s mascot were a few of volunteers at the Living Locally Fair in Russell, where they promoted the Rus- sell Winter Carnival, the first Russell Village will be hosting in over 15 years. Vars will be holding its annual winter carnival from February 7 to February 9. It will begin Friday evening with a kick-off and community supper served at the St-Guil- laume school gym. Mayor Jim Watson, Councillor Stephen Blais and Grant Crack, MPP have confirmed attendance at the supper. Other activities include the Vars Idol talent contest and sleigh rides on Saturday.
