Festival će 22. novembra u „MTS Dvorani“ svečano otvo- riti novi film renomiranog redi- telja Pedra Almodovara, „Su- sedna soba“ („The Room Next Door“), ovogodišnjeg dobitni- ka Zlatnog lava na Filmskom fe- stivalu u Veneciji.
The festival formally opens at mts Hall on 22 nd November with a screening of The Room Next Door, the latest film of renowned Span- ish director Pedro Almodóvar and the winner of this year’s Gold- en Lion at the Venice Film Festival. This Almodóvar film has attracted plenty of attention among critics and audiences, particularly giv- en that this is his first feature film shot entirely in English. The film explores deep bonds of friendship with a focus on the relationship between two women, portrayed by Julianne Moore and Tilda Swin- ton. The Room Next Door is a tale of friendship, but also about diffi- cult choices.
Arriving from the Berlinale, having secured this year’s Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize in Berlin, is the Hong Sang-soo directed film A Traveler’s Needs, starring Isabelle Hup- pert in the lead role. Nobody knows where she came from, but she claims to have arrived from France. Penniless and with no way to support herself, she I advised to teach French and thus becomes the teacher of two Korean women. She adores walking barefoot on the soil and laying on rocks. When she’s in the right mood, she tries to observe every moment wordlessly and to live in harmony with reality as much as possible. But life remains equally difficult. She comes to rely every day on makge- olli (a traditional Korean rice wine) to provide her with at least a little comfort.
Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light is another creation that ar- rives at the 30 th AFF with an award from the Cannes Film Festival. Nurse Prabha’s life in Mumbai is turned on its head when she re- ceives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband. Meanwhile, her younger roommate, Anu, un- successfully attempts to find a place where she can be intimate with her boyfriend in the over- crowded city.
