Klasici poput „Good Morning“ i „Get Happy“ su lirički pre- rađeni da istaknu buntovnički duh same Harli, dok su „Oh When The Saints“ i „World On A String“ dobili potpuno no- vo značenje kroz energične aranžmane koji odražavaju njenu divlju, neukrotivu prirodu. „The Joker“ zaranja u kompleksan odnos Harli i Džokera, a originalne pesme „Happy Mista- ke“ i „Folie à Deux“ predstavljaju emotivni stub čitavog albu- ma, kombinujući sirovu ranjivost i haotičnu energiju u prikaz borbe jedne žene sa njenim osećajem identiteta i nadolaze- ćeg ludila.
Following her very successful acting performance in the movie Jok- er: Folie à Deux, pop icon Lady Gaga has released the even more successful album Harlequin, inspired by the character she por- trayed. This winner of 13 Grammy Awards takes listeners on a gen- re-redefining journey that encapsulates the very essence of this eccentric pop culture figure. Harlequin is an album that explores the raw emotional complexity of a female character who thrives in chaos, the personification of a powerful, irrepressible force. Just like Harley Quinn, but also like Lady Gaga herself, this album is unpredictable, filled with contradictions, and is an undeniably bold fusion of various genres, bringing some- thing completely new and previously undiscovered. “We played around a lot with genres, through the production of the music, changing the lyrics and approaching songs in the great American lexicon, in order for us to emphasise the com- plexity of a woman who has danger within her, but simultaneous- ly carries a sense of sweetness and can’t be easily defined,” ex- plains Lady Gaga. Her fiancé Michael Polansky worked on the album as a co-produc- er, and they jointly brought together world-renowned musicians and composers in order to retain the spirit of Harley Quinn in every note. The result is Lady Gaga like you've never heard before, in an album in which jazz, punk, blues and everything in between intertwine, evok- ing the colourful chaos and emotional depth of Harley Quinn. Classics like Good Morning and Get Happy are lyrically reworked to emphasise Harley’s own rebellious spirit, while Oh, When The Saints and World On A String receive an entirely new meaning through highly energetic arrangements that reflect her wild, untamed nature. The Joker sequel delves into the complex relationship between Har- ley and the Joker, while the original songs Happy Mistake and Folie À Deux serve the album’s emotional pillars, by combining raw vulner- ability and chaotic energy to portray one woman’s struggle with her sense of identity and looming lunacy.
