Abstract: As China rises and reasserts itself as a key contender for leadership in the international order, it has developed a distinct global outlook – one that reflects how it sees itself, its role in the regional and global landscape, and the policies and strategies it needs to pursue to advance its interests around the world, including in Africa. This study explores the foundations, objectives, tools and evolution of China’s new global vision, with a particular focus on how cooperation with Africa fits into this broader framework. Africa is viewed by Chinese policymakers as a vital region –strategically important and full of opportunity. The findings suggest that China has succeeded in crafting a comprehensive and multidimensional global approach, drawing on political, institutional, economic and humanitarian elements. It has mobilised a wide range of tools to bring this vision to life. At the heart of this strategy is Africa, which holds a key position in Beijing’s foreign policy. The continent offers a vast consumer market, rich reserves of minerals, energy and agricultural raw materials, and a political landscape where many governments are inclined to support China’s positions, even at the international level, including in institutions like the United Nations and its Security Council. What further strengthens China’s position is the historical, economic, political and strategic alignment between the two sides –factors that have helped give China a clear edge over traditional Western powers such as the United States and Europe, whose influence in Africa has significantly waned in recent years.. Keywords: China, Africa, China’s new global perspective, cooperation, diplomacy.
