It analyses the Syrian economy post-2011, where war led to a sharp decline in GDP, rising poverty and unemployment rates, and the closure of many production facilities. The study also explores the necessary reforms for economic recovery, identifies priority sectors for reconstruction, and highlights regional and urban planning as key tools for sustainable development. The significance of this research lies in its examination of one of the most pressing issues in the Syrian context, as rebuilding the Syrian economy is fundamental to the post-war phase. Additionally, the study contributes to filling the knowledge gap regarding development strategies in post-conflict environments by providing an analytical perspective based on economic data and proven development approaches in other countries. The study is based on the hypothesis that overcoming economic challenges following the collapse of the Assad regime requires deep institutional reforms and comprehensive economic plans, with a focus on productive sectors, the activation of the private sector, and the utilisation of human capital both within Syria and abroad. The study aims to identify the key economic challenges facing Syria in the post-collapse phase, determine the most critical sectors for reconstruction and development, assess the necessary reforms for economic recovery and structural transformation, and examine how regional and urban planning can be leveraged to stimulate economic growth. Keywords: Syrian economy, reconstruction, economic development, regional planning, urban planning, economic reforms, private sector, post-conflict.
