“THE LION KING JR.” PRESENTED BY KIDS’ BACKPORCH PRODUCTIONS Cost: Adult $15, Youth (2-18) $9, Senior (65+) $12 Location: San Jacinto Fine Arts Auditorium, 13735 Beamer Rd., Houston, Texas. A Junior version of the motion picture and Broadway classic of “The Lion King” lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes - a perfect length for young children to see; performed by 50 young people. Aug. 18, 7 p.m. Aug. 19, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 20, 3 p.m. DRAMA CLASSES WITH KIDS’ BACKPORCH PRODUCTIONS Cost: $125 for 8 weeks beginning Aug. 23 Ages: Kindergarten through 6th grade Fairytale theater (K - 3rd grade) Wed., 4 - 5 p.m. Make a Scene (4th - 6th grade) Wed., 5:15 - 6:15 p.m. DIVINE DANCE ACADEMY Location: 2530 Garden Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581 Younger children improvise a fairytale and learn the basics of theater. Older children memorize scenes and monologues and perfect them. Both groups perform for friends and family on the eighth week. Aug. 23 - Oct. 11

TOUR DE LITES Cost: $15 + $5 each additional family member Age: All Ages Location: TBA Keep Pearland Beautiful will be hosting the 24th Annual Tour de Lites Family Bicycle Ride, a one-and-a-half-hour evening recreational ride to view the Christmas Lights in the Green Tee Subdivision. Afterwards, participants can enjoy cookies, hot chocolate and Christmas music. Funds raised benefit hike and bike trails in Pearland. Visit mykpb.org for more information. Dec. 9 , 6 - 8:30 p.m.

Keep Pearland Beautiful celebrates America Recycles Day each year by accepting hard to recycle items. This year we will accept up to 8 car and light truck tires per Pearland resident for free. Mattresses will also be accepted on this day. Proof of residency required. Each additional tire or non-residents will incur a $4 fee per tire. Visit mykpb.org for more information.
