ew York, NY — SL Green Realty Corp. announced that 100 Park Ave., the 825,815 s/f ‘Modern Classic’ situated in Midtown Manhattan, has been awarded a LEED-EB Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. As one of NYC’s first build- ings to receive a LEED-EB Silver certification in 2009, 100 Park has continually im- proved its environmental and energy efficiency standards to re-certify the property, and now joins an elite group of properties as only one of 26 buildings in New York City to achieve a gold level desig- nation. “As part of SL Green’s for- ward-looking environmental program, we recognize the im- portance of leading by exam- ple, offering a best-in-class ex- perience for our tenants,” said Steven Durels , SL Green executive vice president, di- rector of leasing and real property. “100 Park Avenue’s ascension to a LEED-EB gold N Morristown, NJ —Each year, U.S. Green Building Council New Jersey Chap- ter (USGBC NJ) recognizes and presents the distinguished awards to companies and indi- viduals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and best practices in green building and sustainability. The winners of the distin- guished awards will be cel- ebrated at USGBC NJ’s 12th Annual Emerald Awards Gala on Friday, November 7th at the Conference Center of the LEED certified University Hall at Montclair State University. improved efficiency and envi- ronmental standards, achiev- ing recycling rates of 77%, while water consumption was reduced by an additional 10%. According to Jay Black , SL Green’s director of sustain- ability, “These environmental upgrades combined with an existing green roof, and re- ceipt of the US EPA Energy Star Label from 2010 through 2014, positioned 100 Park to receive this noteworthy, sought-after gold designa- tion.” This represents SL Green’s second LEED certification in 2014, the first being 180 Maiden Lane; it is the fourth property in SL Green’s portfo- lio to receive this designation, the others are: 360 Hamilton in White Plains, New York, and 500West PutnamAvenue in Greenwich, Connecticut. These projects entailed the complete modernization of the residential environment including replacement of de- teriorating building systems, life safety, building code and accessibility upgrades, as well as renovations and additions to the first floor layouts, toilet room renovations, elevators upgrades, and roof replace- ments. n • The County College of Mor- ris’ new LEED Gold-Certified Landscape and Horticultur- al Technology Building is a physical manifestation of the College’s commitment to envi- ronmental stewardship, and a highly visible, hands-on teach- ing tool for the campus com- munity. The CCM Board of Trustees also recently passed a comprehensive sustainability resolution to strengthen and further enhance the college’s environmental goals. • Fairleigh Dickinson Uni- versity Monninger Center for Learning and Research is a new learning center that integrates a historic building into a LEED GOLD academic complex.
