New Jersey Apartment Association Members Hit the Links to Support Local Youth Proceeds from Annual Golf Outing Benefit
WEST ORANGE, NJ — The New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) Charitable Fund, Inc. recently hosted its Annual Golf Outing at the Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, N.J. The sold-out event offered the more than 160 participants a day of friendly competition, non-stop networking and ideal golf weather. Proceeds from the event benefit the Charitable Fund’s Scholarship Program and Annual Holiday Party, which support youth across the state. The Scholarship Program offers $20,000 in college scholarships annually to students who are dependents of residents of NJAA member properties or member employees. The Children’s Holiday Party has provided fun, food and holiday gifts to more than 16,000 underserved children since its inception in 1998. This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, N.J. “This event is our largest fundraiser of the year and we were thrilled that it was a complete sell-out,” said NJAACharitable Fund president Brent Kohere. “We are grateful for the ongoing commitment and incredible generosity of our members, whose support makes it possible for us to give back to the multi-family housing community and to families and children throughout New Jersey.” Awards were presented to players in a number of categories during the reception and dinner following the golf tournament. Robin Flagler of Kettler Management and Dennis Giblin of Able Engineering Services won 1st place for Closest to the Pin, Jane Schwartz of Wessex Management, LLC and Steve Ferrara of Standard Elevator won 1st place for Longest Drive, Jay Robinson from JNR Group, Inc. won 1st place for Straightest Drive, and Ross Geylin from East Coast Cabinet Distributors won the Putting Contest. Eric Schubert of Pride and Service Elevators, Billy Orologio of Lorbin Painting Company, Al Zambarano of Transwestern Commercial Realty, and Charlie Cisek with the New York City School District took Top Foursome honors; and Mark Dente, Michael Fiumefreddo and Frank Fiumefreddo from Central Jersey Waste & Recycling finished in second place. The NJAA Charitable Fund was founded with the mission of using the collective resources of the multi-family housing industry to give back to the community. This year-round effort is made possible through the support of members of the NJAA, a non- profit trade association representing owners, builders, developers and managers of nearly 190,000 rental homes, as well as hundreds of industry suppliers. The NJAA is dedicated to providing safe, clean and affordable rental housing to more than a million residents throughout the state.
