She made it a goal to enroll at least four customers each month, and by Convention 2021 Maricel had earned the Circle of Influence Award and advanced to Senior Director! “I wanted that award!” Maricel explains. “Along the way, I discovered that enrolling four new Members each month is the right activity to help you grow. But I’m not sure if I would have known that without virtual Convention because I had never paid attention enough to the awards before. Everything happens for a reason.” Maricel often reflects on how her life has changed since her first Convention in 2017. At the time, she and her husband, Joseph, were living in a rented room and most of the money she earned from Melaleuca was sent to her parents in the Philippines. Gradually, the Meade’s financial circumstances improved, and they were able to move into a small studio department where Maricel presented many early-morning video-call Melaleuca Overviews while sitting on the bathroom floor. Now she and Joseph are living happily with their two dogs in their own beautiful home. Maricel even has her own office! “I’m so grateful to Executive Directors 9 Luis and Eleonor Navarro, Executive Director 2 Dennis Jacinto, and my enroller, Senior Director 4 Peter Sispine, for helping me build this business,” Maricel says. “Because of them, Melaleuca is so much more than just a store I love. Now I am happy helping other people reach their goals too.”
When Maricel Meade fell in love with Melaleuca products in 2014, she wanted to share Melaleuca with others but found it a difficult task as an immigrant from the Philippines with few friends. Maricel remained a happy shopper for the next three years until— much to her surprise—her sister, Director 7 Evangeline Coffelt, talked her into purchasing a ticket for Convention 2017. “I didn’t know why Evangeline was so interested in building a business all of a sudden,” Maricel remembers. “I hadn’t seen her for a long time, so ultimately that’s why I decided to go to Convention. That’s when everything changed. I thought, ‘I can do this! I don’t have a lot of friends, but I don’t care. I can make new ones!’” Little by little, Maricel’s business grew as she connected with others, added names to her contact list every day, and scheduled appointments to share Melaleuca: An Overview . But it wasn’t until virtual Convention 2020 that she found the right motivation for her business to truly flourish. During the Awards Gala, the name of a Director 6 flashed across the screen as a Circle of Influence Award recipient. A Director 5 at the time, Maricel was inspired to ask her support team how she
