Chiro1Source - November 2023

Take a look at our November newsletter!

always miss our extended families (and the airports tend to be crazy), but we don’t have to compete with as many tourists in the tropics. This year, we chose a Celebrity cruise rather than a single destination. We wanted to have plenty of time to relax while also visiting a lot of different countries in one week! We plan to spend Thanksgiving Day jumping from waterfalls in the Dominican Republic. We’ll also stop by San Juan, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. I can’t wait to ride dune buggies and experience life as a local in St. Maarten, relax on the beach in St. Thomas, and learn how to perfect some Puerto Rican cuisine in a cooking class in San Juan. During our adventures, I know Marah and I will both spend time reflecting on our marriage. The last 10 years together have brought us so many new experiences, joys, and challenges. We bought Chiro1Source together, adopted two dogs and two cats, and grew our family to three when Bennett was born! It takes hard work and a lot of love to keep a relationship strong for 10 years, and I’m proud of us both for putting that work in. Not bad for two people who dated in high school, broke up, and got back together thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the state of Texas, an accidental impersonator, and some seriously damaged shrubbery! (Let me know if you want to hear more about that story. I shared it in the newsletter in 2020, but it’s funny enough that I’d happily tell it again.) In our opinion, there’s no better way to celebrate 10 years of marriage than by enjoying one of our favorite hobbies: traveling together. Whether you’re spending Thanksgiving around the table with your family or somewhere far from home, I hope you have as much fun as we do. Take a break from work, eat delicious food, and don’t forget to share what you’re grateful for. Why I’m Spending Thanksgiving on the High Seas Caribbean Cruise, Here I Come!

2023 NOV

Most people spend Thanksgiving sitting

around a big table with their families, chowing down on turkey and mashed potatoes

— but that’s not the case for me! A few years ago,

my wife Marah and I started a new tradition of traveling every year on Thanksgiving. In 2019, we flew to Costa Rica; last year, we went to St. John

in the Virgin Islands; and this year, we’re taking a Celebrity

cruise through the Caribbean. It’s part Thanksgiving trip and part celebration for our 10th anniversary.

I never expected to be someone who travels on Thanksgiving, but sometimes life surprises you. Marah and I discovered that if we wanted to travel together, we had to plan around our business. The week of Thanksgiving is one of the few times each year the Chiro1Source office closes for consecutive days. Because Marah and I both work in the business, it’s the easiest time for us to get away without interrupting our work.

Traveling over Thanksgiving definitely comes with pros and cons. We

Happy holidays,

“WE PLAN TO SPEND THANKSGIVING DAY JUMPING FROM WATERFALLS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. WE’LL ALSO STOP BY SAN JUAN, ST. MAARTEN, AND ST. THOMAS.”

We all know the after-lunch slump leaves us counting the minutes to our next nap. But research shows that sleeping or lying down after eating isn’t the best for health (no matter how good it feels). When you do this, you’re not allowing your body the time it needs to digest your food properly, and you may experience various digestive issues, such as acid reflux and heartburn. So, is walking the best activity to do after eating? The answer is yes! Walking is a light movement that can help your food move through your stomach and intestines, making digestion smoother. Not only can walking help improve your digestion after eating, but this simple exercise can also bring many other benefits: WALK YOUR WAY TO BETTER DIGESTION

Precision HOW THER MANUAL-AS

Do you remember rubbing a balloon on your head and making your hair stand on end? It’s a science experiment almost everyone tries as a child. The magic that made the trick work was electrostatic friction, and Compass Health Brands has harnessed it to create the best electromechanical manual-assisted therapy ever available.

THERADOT is deep oscillation therapy equipment. Compass Director of Therapy Sales Leon Abramovich says it “allows the practitioner to go much deeper than a hand or massager alone. Massagers feel good, but they’re superficial. THERADOT’S oscillation can go 6–8 centimeters into the patient’s body through a very light touch.”

Boosting your mood Improving sleep quality

Of course, regular exercise improves your overall health significantly, even if it’s just a quick walk around the neighborhood!

THE POST-MEAL WALK: WHEN AND HOW LONG IS BEST? You gain the most digestive benefits if you walk right after eating. Waiting too long afterward may only minimally aid your digestive process. Be sure to get moving as soon after your meal as possible! As for frequency, ideally, you should go for a stroll after every meal. However, to get started, try going for a walk after dinner. You can increase your number of walks as you get accustomed to the exercise. Ten minutes is all you need to reap the benefits of walking after eating. While you can walk longer if you’d like, 10 minutes is doable even with a busy schedule. Plus, if you walk for 10 minutes after every meal, that’s 30 minutes of exercise daily! Take your dog with you or stroll with your headphones, listening to your favorite podcast. How you walk is up to you, but no matter what, you’re doing your mind and body a huge favor!

Compass has been selling electrotherapy devices since the 1950s, but THERADOT is the company’s first manual- assisted therapy. Abramovich notes that Compass carried THERADOTS’s only competitor for 15 years but spent years improving the technology. “This is the latest and greatest,” Abramovich said. “It’s more portable, has a better warranty, better price, and contains the complete kit for one price.”

THERADOT uses gloves or a wand to create electrostatic energy, and the unit comes with evidence-based protocols

segmented by discipline. Practitioners can select from a user-friendly menu of conditions their patients might experience. The device will provide instructions on how to use its frequencies for maximum effectiveness. High frequency is the most intense and helps break up solid waste and deposits. Moderate frequency creates relaxation and helps open up muscle tissue. Finally, low frequency pulsates against the patient’s body to move fluid and increase oxygen to the area. All three phases are highly comfortable for the patient, and the moderate frequency, in particular, gets rave reviews.

Abramovich notes THERADOT’s excellent value proposition, as the therapy is reimbursable through the CPT Code 97124. “Let’s say you purchase the machine at the $5,500 list price and get $32 per treatment reimbursement,” Abramovich said. “If you see only four patients a day, you will have paid for the machine in less than three months. There’s not a single other piece of equipment you can say that about, including among our brands.” THERADOT can provide incredible clinical value to both you and your patients. If you scan this QR code and enter my raffle, you can win a FREE Lanoca Coffee Sampler box! Each box comes with four 6-ounce bags of freshly roasted, single-origin, whole- bean coffee. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or a casual drinker, I promise this will be some of the best you’ve ever tasted. Try

out all of the beans to discover your favorite or share them with your family, your friends, and your team. Unconventional Items to Pack on Your Next Flight ELEVATE YOUR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

NOISE-CANCELING HEADPHONES Flights can be noisy. You can never predict crying babies,

When preparing for your flight, it’s essential to pack the basics, such as clothing, medications, toiletries, and your travel documents. However, there are some surprising and often overlooked items that can greatly enhance your flying experience. These unexpected additions in your carry-on can make your air travel experience more comfortable, enjoyable, and stress-free. ELECTROLYTES Flying is dehydrating! Because airplane cabins are kept at a lower humidity level, your body dehydrates quicker than normal. To help keep your body hydrated without a dozen trips to the bathroom over the course of your flight, pack some electrolyte packets to mix into your water. Speaking of water, pack an empty water bottle with you, and after passing through security, you can fill it up at a water fountain!

PORTABLE CHARGER While you may have remembered to pack your plug-in phone charger,

Noise-canceling headphones can provide a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the airplane. They block out ambient noise and allow you to relax, listen to music, or enjoy in-flight entertainment without any distractions.

bringing along a portable charger and power bank is a lifesaver! Sometimes, finding an available charging station in a

crowded airport can be tricky. But having a backup power source on the plane makes it possible to keep your devices charged throughout your journey! When packing for your next flight, don’t forget to include these trip-saving items in your carry-on for a more pleasant travel experience — you’ll be glad you did!

COMPRESSION SOCKS Wearing compression socks on an airplane is crucial for maintaining healthy circulation during long flights. Prolonged periods of sitting can lead to blood pooling in your legs, causing swelling, poor circulation, and even deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Compression
