The morning sta rs sang togeth er for joy when a living psychic stepped from th e palm of God; why should men shiver when a living pneum atic crown ed th e age-long toil? God stored every form of life in the egg we call m atter. He never le ft it, bu t brooded over it till life took form ; why sh rink when the la st expression winged its way from H is brooding care? If th e heavens declare H is glory and not His shame, and th e firm anent shew- eth His handiwork and not His failures, why should we blush when He gives us th e crown of creation, His Son, a per fect life on the pedestal of hum anity? When p lan t life began it reached down and trie d to lift all the m a tte r it could into its likeness, it called ou sun to warm and cloud to moisten, and lift th e dead m a tte r to organized life. When anim al life came it in tu rn stooped to p lan t and trie d to lift it to its level. When man came he stooped in tu rn and lifted all below him to his level. Civil ization is simply humanized m a tte r and life, below m an; lifting all below to th e hum an level. And now Christ has come, a new type, the Lord from heav en, God m anifest in th e flesh, and He is ever-living and striving th rough His Spirit, to lift all men to H is high level. He is th e beginning, no t the ending of a new kingdom , th e final m anifestation of th e sp iritu al over the m aterial, th e final type which shall end in a new heaven and a new earth . The archi tect sees th e end from th e beginning. God sees th e end from th e beginning, prophets catch gleams and glimpses. Alii th a t Christ is, we, man, can be come; all th a t He has we may share. The p la n t th a t lifts th e dead earth has to touch it first, th e an im al th a t recognizes th e p lan t has to touch it first, th e man who vitalizes th e world below him has to touch it, • th e Christ had to become p a rta k e r of flesh and blood to sh are His life w ith us.
