DAYTIME DEFENSE More than Sun Protection

Barley extract is rich in powerful antioxidants, called phenols, in addition to other vitamins and nutrients. This ingredient also contains beta glucan which increases the macrophage effect around wounded tissue, contributing to healing. Barley is also shown to have emollient properties, making it a great addition to formulas to help boost hydration. Cork Tree Bark rounds out our SBC Complex is commonly used in traditional Eastern medicine. This mineral-based formula may be applied to the most vulnerable skin, whether immediately after a peel, post-laser, post-surgical procedures and it can be applied to the skin of babies!
Zinc oxide is the key sun-protecting ingredient. This natural mineral creates a shield on the surface of the skin, protecting it from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Zinc oxide has many additional properties including healing, making it a great ingredient to use on those with acne and compromised skin. Over the years, there has been discussion on the types of zinc used in sun protection formulas. Everyone agrees that formulating with zinc that does not leave behind a chalky, white residue is key. Daytime Defense uses a large particle zinc that allows for a more transparent finish, eliminating the chalky residue.
