County Cup is Putting Along!
By: Tim Moubray, Director, Orange County Parks & Recreation Department
We had beautiful weather and a fine turnout at Porter Links for the O.C. Open, the latest County Cup event. The play was stupendous. We enjoyed the opportunity to witness many putting styles with the Happy Gilmore putter, including a few slapshots. After all was said and done, our Treasurer, Dawn Herndon, prevailed as 2024 O.C. Open Champ. She scored a triple 10 on her last shot with the pink ball, making a grand total of 61 point. Travis Shular (Library) was second with 49, and Jeremy Brown (ECC) was third with 48.
Drema Rogers and Carrie Leistra, also from Team Treasurer, joined Dawn in the Top Ten for 20.5 team points, which propelled them from ninth to fifth in the current overall standings. Speaking of jumping positions, congrats to the ECC for earning top spot in team standings. Thanks to all who came out to play and to all who got them to come play. The County Cup is an important part of our organization ’ s Cultural Initiative, which seeks to make Orange County an employer of choice, able to recruit and retain skilled employees. Look like fun?
