Testing R-22+ Wall Assemblies

Description Building energy regulations are changing rapidly across Canada to meet govern- ment mandates to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. In British Columbia, the Energy Step Code was enacted in April 2017 for both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings to transition new housing stock to Net Zero energy ready by 2032. This project will test wall assemblies that will be most commonly used in B.C. to meet the new energy requirements to generate performance data and help improve related hygrothermal modelling and building envelope design. Impact The goal of this project is to provide recommendations on durable and energy efficient wood-frame wall assemblies that can be readily used by builders.
