Beachcombing along Lake Michigan is a peaceful and rewarding way to spend a day. From smooth beach glass to fossils and driftwood there is no shortage of treasures to collect! The most popular treasures are beach bass, fossils and drift wood!

TIPS FOR BEACHCOMBING Head out early in the morning or after a storm, when new pieces are likely to appear. Scan the line where beach glass collects with rocks & driftwood. Try quieter, less-traveled beaches for better luck. Green, white, and brown are common—blue and red are rare finds. Look for Crinoids—These small, circular fossils can be found on their own or embedded in rocks. When looking for driftwood, select weathered pieces that have been shaped by the sand and bleached by the sun.
