GIRLS INC. DALLAS
ANNUAL REPORT
LEADERSHIP MESSAGE
Board Chair, Arjun Dugal and CEO, Beth Myers (Center) with Eureka! participants, Vanessa and Jae.
Dear Girls Inc. Friends, We are honored to share our accomplishments and progress for the fiscal year 2023. This has been a remarkable year marked by growth, partnerships and a deep commitment to addressing the pressing needs of girls in our community. Growth and Impact: We are thrilled to report that we experienced exceptional growth. We served 3,584 girls, a 21% increase over the previous year. We also strengthened partnerships and have 48 school and community partners hosting us to deliver Girls Inc. programming. This significant expansion in our reach speaks to our deep commitment and the pressing need for our programs. Addressing the Mental Health Crisis: As we celebrate our growth, we remain deeply aware of the challenges facing today's girls. According to the CDC’s Youth Behaviors Risk Survey, girls are experiencing a mental health crisis, with six of every ten girls reporting persistent sadness and hopelessness. One-tenth of girls surveyed reported attempting suicide, and 14% had experienced forced sexual encounters. The statistics for girls of color and girls from low-income neighborhoods are even more alarming. Girls Inc. programming emphasizes nurturing girls' mental and emotional well-being and teaching them about consent and personal safety. Positive Outcomes: The impact of our work is evident in the outcomes we've achieved. Girls Inc. girls consistently show better health, education, and aspirational outcomes than their peers. These results reaffirm the importance of our mission and the effectiveness of our programs.
While we are proud of our accomplishments, we recognize that there is still much work to be done. Thousands of girls in our community do not yet have access to the support and interventions we offer. Our commitment to reaching every girl remains unwavering. Looking ahead, we are focused on several key initiatives in 2024 and beyond. We will continue to grow our reach, striving to serve even more girls. We will be vocal advocates for girls' mental health and well-being, working to raise awareness and promote policies that will prioritize their unique needs. We will deepen our existing community partnerships, fostering collaborations that empower us to reach and impact more girls. As we reflect on the past year, we are profoundly grateful for your support. Your belief in our mission fuels our determination to make a lasting difference in the girls' lives in Dallas. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we empower girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Kind Regards,
Beth Myers, MSW CEO
