K D ecent moves by network officials of the American Broadcasting Com pany have made a major reshuffle in the scheduling of religious programs necessary. Many of the familiar after noon favorites suph as “ Old Fashioned Revival Hour,” “ Radio Bible Class,” “World Vision,” and Billy Graham’s “ Hour of Decision” will be moved to morning and evening times. While there have been speculations concerning this move, it is generally felt among leaders of the trade that religious programs do not have vast audiences. While this is far from the truth, yet radio salesmen meet with resistance from national firms and local merchants who do not want to buy time next to such broadcasts. This trend, which has been growing steadily since the advent of television in 1946, actually has always been felt. There is still “ the offense of the cross” in the ministry of the Gospel. The best thing any individual can do to guarantee the continuance of favorite programs is to write a letter to the management of the local sta tion or network. With letters, the salesman is able to prove the value of the Christian program. Recent sur veys by stations carrying The Bible Institute Hour (KSCO, Santa Cruz, California; KTEL, Walla Walla, Washington) reveal that these pro grams have a much higher rate of listeners than all other stations in the area combined. So, write that letter, not only to the program itself, help ing to maintain the testimony, but also to the local station management, commending them for selling time to the Christian broadcaster. Good news comes this month from the foreign missionary radio area with a report from Tom Watson, Jr., of The Evangelical Alliance Mission. Radio station KLKX, Korea, has been increased to 50,000 watts of power. This will mean an additional audi ence of 50 per cent. Without question, one of the most effective tools for modem mass evangelism is radio. In this we realize an application of the Psalmist’s remarks when he declared, “There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world” (Psm. 19:3, 4).

Dr. V . Raymond Edman says: President o f Wheaton College “ FOR THE CHRISTIAN MAN OR WOMAN SEEKING INCREASED INCOME AND EXCELLENT SECURITY... The Book o f Life Home Training Plan, in my opinion, is one o f the most satisfying and rewarding." Here’s a program in which pastors, teachers, church workers and all ener getic Christians can find deep satisfaction . . . because the purpose of the plan is to get the Bible read and understood in more homes—to further

the spiritual growth and enrichment of our children. This unique plan has no competition . . Every Christian home in your town and neighbor ing communities is a prospect . . . you work on a proven “ lead” system . . . make no deliveries

. . . and there’s nothing to buy. Work full or part tim e . . .

Many of our people working full time make from $8,000 to $12,000 yearly. Many more work part time earning $75 to $100 a week. ' - And above all, as they earn, these folk are in a vital home ministry to further Christ’s Kingdom! Once you’ve started, you’ll agree with Dr. Edman that the spiritual opportunities and financial gain are most satisfying. MAI L T O D A Y JOHN RUDIN & COMPANY, INC. Dept. K-110 22 W .
