The circuit crosses the ancient com- munication paths between the village of Santa Maria del Castello (Vico Equense) and the "Corvo" locality of Positano. We are on the ancient state border between the Duchy of Amalfi and those of Naples and Sorrento, guarded by a fortified place (the Castle), of which only the internal chapel remains today, hence the toponym "Santa Maria del Castello". Following the natural paths trodden over the centuries by peasants, wayfa- rers, Longobards, Turkish pirates, brigands and smugglers, one enters an environment of high naturalistic value,
