to forget ourselves and the tempta tions Satan would bring, and to take God at His word. Read it with ex pectancy, claiming the promises for yourself in your own circumstances. This is the secret of a victorious, liv ing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. MOMENT BY MOMENT God does not lead me year by year, Or even day by day But step by step my path unfolds; Thé Lord directs my way. Tomorrow’s plans I do not know, I only know this minute; But He will say, "This is the way, By faith now walk ye in it.” And I am glad that it is so; Today's enough to bear; And when tomorrow comes, His grace Shall far exceed its care. What need to worry then or fret? The God who gave His Son Holds all my moments in His hand And gives them, one by one. STEP BY STEP Child of My love, fear not the un known morrow, Dread not the new demand life makes of thee; Thy ignorance doth hold no cause for sorrow Since what thou knowest not is known to Me. Stand not in fear thy adversaries counting, Dare every peril, save to disobey; Thou shalt march on, all obstacles surmounting; For I, the Strong, will open up the way. Wherefore go gladly to the task assigned thee, Having My promise, needing noth ing more Than just to know, where'er the future finds thee, In all thy journeying I go before. ASKING AMISS If you had been living when Christ was on earth And had met the Saviour kind, What would you have asked Him to do for you, Supposing that you were blind? A child considered and then replied, "I suppose that without a doubt I’d have asked for a dog and a collar and chain To lead me safely about.” And how often thus, in our faithless prayers, We acknowledge with shamed sur prise, We have asked for only a collar and chain When we might have had our EYES!
