a piece of paper about five inches square. Cut inward from each comer to within an inch of the center. Take an alternate point of each cut section, bending it to the center, and fasten with a pin stuck through the points and the center into the end of a pencil.) LESSON: I brought two strange- looking things with me this morning. One is a compass which tells a travel er his directions. The other is a wind mill, which is blown by every wind which strikes it. The compass always points toward the region of the North Star. Unsaved people are very much like this windmill. They are changed by every wind. They are very sensitive to the winds of the world. The things that others are doing are the things they want to do, regardless of what God thinks. There was a time in the life of Peter when he was like this windmill. He warmed himself by the World’s fire, and found it easy to deny his Lord (Mk. 14:66-72). He was changed by the wind of the world. Peter was a true follower of Christ, however, and did not continue to be a man blown by every wind. After the coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, Peter was different. He became like this compass. You w ill notice that the compass does not change, no matter how hard I blow against it. It points constantly tq the region of the North Star. After Pente cost, Peter steadily pointed to Christ. Today' Christ is not pleased with His followers when they are blown by every wind of the world. Christ wants us to point to Him, just as this com pass points toward the North Star. By which are you controlled this morning, the winds of the world, or Christ, “the bright and me—’ing star” ? Are you a compass or a \ ’mill?

MEMORY VERSE: “Thou, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive” (Psa. 86:5). AIM: To teach the importance of our daily words. ' APPROACH: Some one has said that when he sees boys flying their kites, he thinks about something else: about words.. Even if the kite has been drawn high in the sky, the child can pull it back, if he holds tightly to the strong cord. But words, when they are spoken,* never can be brought back. The Bible tells us about a man who should have been careful about his words, but he forgot. LESSON STORY: The man’s name was Peter, and. he was one of the Lord’s friends. Once he used boasting

sleep when the Lord needed him! An other time, Peter used untrue words when a little girl asked him, “Aren’t you one of the followers of the Lord Jesus?” (cf. vs. 66, 67). Peter told a lie when he answered, “ 1 don’t know what you mean.” Still another time, when some one called him a friend of the Lord Jesus, Peter used bad, swear ing words, the kind a Christian never should, use. Poor Peter—he f o r g o t that •his words needed watching! He forgot to ask the heavenly Father ,to “ keep the door” of his lips (Psa. ,JL41:3). The Bible says that when Peter thought of all the wrong things he had said, he was very sorry and “ he wept” (v. 72). Right then, while he was still cry ing, he must have remembered the wonderful words of our Memory Verse.
