our loving Lord Jesus. He is the One who can help us, and He said He would. To do this, He left His lovely home in heaven and came to earth to live right with sinful people like us. The ones He came to help were ofteii un kind to Him; they were, cross and mean and had bad thoughts in their hearts. A ll the time the Lord Jesus was gentle and loving; there was never one bit of sin in Him, but He loved us a ll so much that He was willing even to have this sin-sickness Himself, so that He could make us well and good! He was w illing to do something more, to die—to give us His own life—for the sake of our sin. What a wonderful Saviour He is! OBJECT: A piece of paper 6 inches In diameter, or larger if necessary, lined to represent a globe of the world. (Cut another piece of paper the same size. Fold this second piece down the middle, and cut Vs. of an inch from the fold. Discard the folded piece. Plaee these two pieces on the face of the world, leaving a gap between them of % inch. Hinge them with a piece of transparent tape at the equator. Down the gap between the two pieces, print on the world, the following, "ONE IN CHRIST.” Open the flaps and using the letters in the .above words, complete the following words: “ESKIMO, GENTILE, JEW, AFRICAN, INDIAN, CHINESE, ENG LISH, SYRIAN, AMERICAN, SIAMESE, and TURK.” With the flaps o p e n , make a red cross on each. When the flaps are closed, place the lines of longitude and latitude on them. Fold the flaps behind the world before be ginning the lesson.) LESSON: We have a drawing repre senting the world. On it are the names of some of the peoples of the world. We do not have space for them all. Those mentioned are different in color, in looks, and in their customs. Realiz ing these differences, people have of ten wondered whether the different nationalities could ever become one. Many plans to unite them have been tried without success. However, there is one plan that has succeeded wherever it has been tried. Object Lesson T h e W orld M ade O n e

Biola-in-China News

T HE ‘ “BATTLE of the Ric,e Bowl” has been f o u g h t again in the region of Changsha, where the Hunan Bible Institute is located. Once more we may gratefully report that prayer has been answered. The enemy has been defeated and driven back to original positions—and we hope beyond them. Cabled messages inform us that missionaries and Chinese leaders have been evacuated safely from the fighting zone, and are doubt less now returning to-their sta tions to assist in the arduous task of rehabilitation. Recent reports indicate that the

Biola Evangelistic Bands h a v e been able to carry on without great difficulty, and that a ready response to the gospel is being shown. The temporary hospital lo cated on the Hunan Bible Insti tute campus is filled to capacity with sick and wounded patients, among whom evangelistic work is being done constantly. Earnest prayer is asked for our Chinese staff now on the field, especially for Y. T. Chen, Busi ness Manager of the Institute, and H. T. Tien, in charge of Biola Band work. Both these brethren are in their sixties, and the responsibil ity of the work is very great.

and with his stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5). Now as we look at the people of the world, cleansed by Christ’s blood, we read, “ONE IN CHRIST.” A ll those who receive Him as personal Saviour are made one in Him. More can be done by preaching Christ to the nations than by signing peace pacts.

We shall let this piece of paper show us the way. These two flaps have red crosses on them to remind us of the cross on which the Lord Jesus Christ shed His precious blood to redeem the world from sin. This is what Isaiah had in mind when he wrote, “He was wounded for our transgressions, he Was bruised for our iniquities: . . .

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, In the image of Gofl created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Matthew 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on tne Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well oh the Sabbath days. Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow aft er the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offense.
