LESSON STORY: Thé Lord Jesus, when He was here on earth, was get ting ready to go back to heaven. He wanted His friends to remember to do many things while He was away. All that He said was important-and-should Be obeyed. But there was one thing He wanted them to be sure to remem ber, so-He told them about that among the last words that He spoke on earth. It was as though the Lord Jesus was saying to His followers, “Please, you friends of Mine, don’t forget this: I want you to ‘go . . . into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’ I want you to tell the good news about a loving Saviour to every boy and girl near you and every one far away, to every man and woman in your town and to every one in all the world. Dear friends of-Mine, you won’t forget, w ill you?” The Bible says that those who heàrd the Lord JesuS say this “went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them” (v. 20). But some of His friends must have forgotten to do this, because today there are many, many people in the world who have not even heard of the Lord Jesus and His love for them. We, too, are*His friends. Our Mem ory Verse is His very own word to us; shall we say it together, asking Him to help us to do what He asks? OBJECTS: A pair of scissors and a piece of light brown paper 6 inches wide by 48 inches long. (Begin with one end, and make five ,or six very small folds. Press this roll flat so that it will not unwind, Begirt with this flat roll, and then make a larger round roll, about the size of the mid dle finger, using the remainder of the paper. Arrange the round roll so the fiat roll w ill be at the bottom. Cut down from the top of the round roll to, but not through, the flat roll. This should be done twice, two inches from each end, leaving a space of two inches in the middle. Bend the two outside sections at right angles to the middle section. Cut across the middle section about a quarter of an inch from the flat roll on both sides of the flat roll. When you hold the two out side, sections at right angles to the middle section, and pull up on the Object Lesson L o g o r L a d d e r

flat roll, a ladder will be made. Line and make circles on the outside to represent the bark and knots of a log. Begin the lesson with cuts in the roll away from the audience.) LESSON: This round piece of paper is made to look like a log. If you were running fast and suddenly saw a log in your path, what would you be apt to do? “Stumble and fa ll!" Yes, many have fallen because there has been something in their path which has caused them to stumble. There are more ways than one in which people are made to stumble. In Romans 14:21 we read, “It is good- neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.” In that day, as well as in this, there were those who thought they were strong enough to drink wine and not to become drunkards. Paul re minded them that they should not drink wine, regardless of the effect drinking had on themselves, because some other brother mig’ht stumble. Logs , can be made, into ladders. Would you like to see me make this one into a ladder? (Fold the outside sections to right angles with the cen ter, and pull on the small roll.) We now have a ladder which reaches to ward heaven. It is much better to make pur lives ladders which help to lift others in their journey of life,.than to do those things which cause them to stumble and fall.
