gether, it would amount to months. I thought that some day faith would cotne down and strike me like light ning. But faith did not seem to come. One day I read in the tenth chapter of Romans, “ Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” I had closed my Bible and prayed for faith. I now opened my Bible, and began to study, and faith has been growing ever since.—D. L. Moody. Omniscient Perception “O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me . . . thou understandest my thought afar off” (Psa. 139:1, 2). - God’s knowledge' is more accurate thSn that of others or than the man’i own knowledge of himself. God de mands absolute rectitude in thought and being. With Him the-lustful look is sin arid hate is murder. Sin is in finitely worse in God’s sight than in man’s, but God sees not only the evil in us but the good. He sees the soul’s red blush of shame when sin is com mitted and hears its passionate cry for power to lead a Christlike life, arid by these He measures us. —J. D. Rankin. Repaid Abundantly “ And they did all eat, and were filled And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments” (Mk. 6:42, 43). According to the Scripture, our sac rifice for Him always comes back pressed down, shaken together, and rurining over. We are not able to meas ure the loaves loaned or the pieces picked up, but the Lord ■is faithful who promised, and here is an illus tration of His faithfulness. He always abundantly repays for services ren dered. Peter’s boat, borrowed for a pulpit, is returned to him packed to the rim. with fish. The boy’s bor rowed bread is returned to him in twelve baskets of pieces. So is it a l ways when we invest ourselves for Him.—»Albert Hughes. "My Presence" “My presence shall go with thee, and I w ill give thee rest” (Ex. 33:14). “Rest in the Lord” (Psa. 37:7). Our hearts would ask a program, An outline, sent from heaven. But no such chart is granted, A life-map is not given; Instead, there comes a promise, A promise for each day, “My presence shall go with thee, My presence—all the way/’ Provision and protection We rightly seem to crave; Were we of these quite certain, We think we could be brave; But—greater than these portions Can this Word come to be. 20. 21. 22.

One of the basic reasons for decline in Sunday School attendance lies at the door of Johnny’s and

Mary’s home. Their mother and daddy are not concerned enough—or even concerned at all—that their children attend regularly. Thjy are busy all week. Maybe Johnny’s mother has a war-time job. Sunday then becomes a day for “catching up,” late rising, and you know the test. Appalling, but true.

Mother and dad must be aroused.to the need for Sunday School attendance; yes, sold on the necessity o f sending Johnny and Mary off every Sunday—on time. tyowt That, Sunday School leader, is YOUR job—iunmistakablyl The task of selling Sunday School attendance to the parents of your community’s children is in your hands to be done.
