“My presence shall go with thee, My presence! Mine! With thee!” . —Jewish Era. 23. One With Christ “ Abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4). \ God has called us to share the ex perience of His Son; mot simply to ac cept what He taught, or to believe He died to save the world, or to trust that He will guide through life, or to ex pect He Will come to deliver one in the hour of temptation. No—this is true, but it falls far short of the goal. We are to be one with Christ; He is to reproduce in us His experience. —F. J. Huegel. 24. Divine Instruction “I am the Lord thy God which teach- eth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldst go” (Isa. 48:17). How many times our hearts must be moved to thank God for His in finite patience in teaching us! He lays out before us life lessons! assigned in love and according to the wise design of His omniscience, and we are so slow to learn. Yet, when we come to Him with the lesson imperfectly done or entirely ruined, He lovingly lays it all out again, and with a tender smile of encouragement says softly, “Try again, My child. Do it this way." If I do not learn, with such a loving, wise, and patient Teacher, then the fault must lie w ith .the dullness or the Willfulness of the pupil. —Selected. 25. The True Source “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint"

Jesus. Most Christians have a meas ure of joy, much pf which is due to the knowledge of sins forgiven and of divine pardon, but such is only the beginning of joy. Fullness of joy can be known only as the Redeemer of the cross becomes our »daily and constaiit companion. Whether you believe it or not, His presence is an actual fact ( “ I am with you” ). Let me urge you to earnestly recognize the daily compan ionship of our blessed Lord. So shall your hearts bubble over with joy. —J. T. Zamrazil. ' Bringing Us to God “ And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 5:18). We can never delight the heart of God more than by bringing before Him in prayer and in our ministry our appreciation of the value of the death of His beloved Son on Calvary’s cross. . ' . Sometimes we confine our worship to thanksgiving and praise for what the cross has done for us, and we fail to realize and fail to let God understand that we appreciate what the cross has done for God. It enabled God to bring men and wom en to Himself. The Just One died for the unjust that He might bring us to God.—R. J. Devine. Times for Stillness “ Be still and know that I am God” (Psa. 46:10). No Christian can afford to live con stantly in the whirl.-Daniel needed to have an Olivet in his chamber amid Babylon’s roar and impiety. Peter found his on a housetop in jQppa. Let every child of Jesus resolve that he w ill have a place and a time for meeting his dear Master alone, arid he w ill go forth from such holy inter views with his face shining and his strength renewed. —Theodore L. Cuyler. Spiritual Progress “ Grow in grace, and in the kriowl- edge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Pet. 3:18). Much bf the best mountain climb ing is done by night. For important ascensions that demand perhaps six to eight hours from the riiountain hut where the night has been passed; a party w ill get away shortly after mid night, when the ice and snow are still solid, and when the sun’s rays have not loosened icicles and started ava lanches. Often a small lantern is car ried to lighten the way. Thus it is with the believer. Often the greatest pro gress in the Christian life occurs in the night of sorrow, when the sun of earthly pleasure is not shining on his path.—Edith F. Norton. 27. 28. 29.
