2. TERMS AND DEFINITIONS Term Definition Ability
Ability covers our capacity to act responsibly, safely, and independently or in cooperation with others. When we act, we make use of our knowledge and skills together with our personal and professional experience, attitude, and personal characteristics. The theoretical point in an object through which the downward force, induced by gravity, of the object can be said to act.
Centre of Gravity
Crane Machine for cyclic lifting and handling of loads suspended on hooks or other load handling devices (whether manufactured to an individual design) in series or from prefabricated components. Dynamic Lift A lifting operation where the load is moving relative to the crane, e.g. the mass, measured between the crane hook and the load varies and can induce shock loading onto the crane.
Effective Working Length
Actual finished length of a sling, inclusive of fittings, from bearing point to bearing point.
