WELCOME TO OUR FIRST WYNDEMERE WAY OF THE 2024-2025 SEASON
As you read this, you will see the great work that our staff has done in preparing Wyndemere for the upcoming season. And, they have taken the lessons learned from previous seasons (good and not so good) to update and improve the events, the timing and the general satisfaction of and service to our Members. We are also very excited this season will include the opening of all our new amenities. We will look forward to: A new Driving Range and Golf Practice Facility A Golf Learning Center equipped with all the latest technology to support your golf game Three replacement bocce courts and one additional new court Three new Pickleball Courts including one Stadium Court. For those of you who have attended the Pickleball tournaments that we have held here in the past, this will be a great improvement for spectators and will draw even better events A new full-size Croquet Lawn A courtyard with full Bar, Restrooms and storage facility As with any new facility or amenities, it will take us a little while to figure out the best programming for each area to meet our Members’ needs. But, what a great challenge to have! On the governance side, the Board has continued its work over the summer. The Board and Operating Committees will be formed in November and continue their valuable work throughout the season. I want to thank all the Members that volunteer to serve on committees. This is one of our most valuable assets at Wyndemere that allows and encourages participation by Members in the governance process. And finally, while we have said goodbye to some staff, we also have welcomed some great new staff. I hope that you all have the opportunity to meet them now or when you return
Gary Lapidas, Club President
We all look forward to another terrific season.
Sincerely, Gary

Executive Perspective Dear Members,
Welcome back to many of our seasonal Members that will be making their way back to Naples over the next month. We’ve had a great summer at the Club accomplishing many projects including the work on the Facilities Master Plan that Mr. Lapidas discussed in his article. We look forward to sharing more photos and videos with you as it all comes together. Mark your calendars for our Welcome Back Party on Thursday, November 7th featuring the very popular Private Stock Band. The theme will be “A Taste of Asia” offering a wide variety of food to satisfy everyone. The Food & Beverage Team led by Allison Petscher, our Assistant General Manager, have been working on this party for months so you will not want to miss it. On a staffing front, we are in the midst of our search for an Executive Chef and have been getting many good applicants. Meanwhile, we have a strong team of qualified chefs in place to ensure a seamless transition from your perspective. With season around the corner, we are excited to be welcoming twenty-two seasonal employees to Wyndemere, many of whom will be familiar faces. Please give them a warm Wyndemere Welcome when you see them back at the Club. They are an integral part of us having a successful 2024-2025 Season.
Ron Parris, Chief Executive Officer
Thank you very much for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you around the Club very soon.
Sincerely, Ron

As I begin my 37th year here at Wyndemere, I am happy to report that home sales for fiscal year 2024 (9/1/23 - 8/31/24) totaled 28 which included 18 new Limited Golf Members, 4 new Sports Members and 6 current Members purchasing within the gates. The available inventory is still challenging as it continues to be low, but the good news is that there is a good amount of interested potential Members who are ready to purchase a home here. I am also pleased to report that for FY2024 we were able to upgrade 24 Members to full Golf and currently have 14 waiting for the opportunity to upgrade. This was all possible due to Members reclassifying to a Sports Membership and Golf Members selling their property. PACE OF PLAY REMINDER
Golf pace of play is about maintaining a steady flow on the course. Players should be ready to hit when it's their turn, play efficiently, and keep up with the group ahead. Being mindful of time not only enhances enjoyment, but also respects others on the course.

HELLO WYNDEMERE MEMBERS
SUMMER MAINTENANCE & CLOSURES This summer was unique, as we didn’t follow our usual closure rotation for all 27 holes. We closed the White and Gold Courses in late April/early May and again in mid-August. With the Green Course closed for the project, we took the opportunity to complete aerification and other maintenance tasks. Every summer in Southwest Florida brings its challenges, and this year was no exception. We’ve faced over 76 inches of rainfall so far - the most since Hurricane Irma in 2017. This is a sharp contrast to last year’s 41 inches during a dry El Niño pattern. I hope you all had a wonderful summer with family and friends! It’s hard to believe we’re already entering October - it feels like just yesterday we closed the Driving Range and Green Course to begin our project.
Aaron Ohloff, Golf Course Superintendent
LOOKING AHEAD TO THE WINTER SEASON Our winter golf season is just around the corner, and we’re preparing for our busiest time of year. Over the next month, we’ll shift gears to ensure Wyndemere offers a fantastic golfing experience this winter. Thank you for your continued support and patience. We look forward to welcoming you back to a better- than-ever Wyndemere! SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR TEAM Our in-house Golf Maintenance Team also deserves immense recognition. Large-scale projects like this test a Team both mentally and physically, and during the turfgrass establishment period, some staff worked 15- 16 hour days to keep everything on track. I’m incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication over the past four months. I’d like to recognize the incredible work of our contractors, architects, and Wyndemere Golf Maintenance Team. Liebold Irrigation’s dedication, despite over 21 inches of rain in their first month, has been remarkable. Rain has forced us to redo much of the work, but their perseverance is deeply appreciated. A special thanks to Drew Rogers, our Golf Course Architect, and his associate, Joel Hornickel, for their vision and expertise. PRACTICE FACILITIES PROJECT UPDATE I won’t go into too much detail here - there will be more updates to come on pages 29 and 30 - but I’m excited about the progress. While the areas are still growing in, I’m pleased with the daily improvements. We haven’t set an official opening date, but we’re committed to ensuring everything is fully mature before we open.

HOW COMMON ARE PICKLEBALL EYE INJURIES?
The study notes that eye injuries among players are rare, accounting for only 0.5% of pickleball injuries, and are most often caused by being hit with the ball. To avoid falling into this small percentage, make sure to protect your eyes with sunglasses or goggles.
Jicham Zaatini, Director of Racquet Sports

WHAT BRAND IS BEST?
There are many brands and styles on the market, but the most important feature to look for is that they are shatterproof. At the Racquet Sports Shop, you can find a variety of options like Goodr, Razze Eyewear, and Pickleball Strong Sunglasses. Stop by to find your fit!
PROTECT YOUR EYES WHEN PLAYING PICKLEBALL
Playing pickleball requires keeping your eye on the ball at all times. However, pickleball and other racquet sports can expose players to the risk of eye injuries. I’ve witnessed numerous types of pickleball-related eye damage, including corneal abrasions (scratching of the eye surface), retinal tears or detachment, Berlin’s edema (damage to the retina’s outer layers, causing temporary vision loss), and hyphema (bleeding in the front chamber of the eye). The fast-paced nature of pickleball and the close proximity between players significantly increase the risk of the ball striking the eye, according to researchers. Fortunately, the solution is simple and effective: wear protective, shatterproof eyewear when playing. This provides both front and side coverage for optimal protection. Even sunglasses or regular glasses can add an extra layer of safety.

FACILITIES MASTER PLAN
EXCITING PROGRESS AT WYNDEMERE! Big things are underway, and the transformation is in full swing! We are thrilled to see all the hard work that the Committees and staff have dedicated over the past few years coming to life. Our dedicated team is actively ensuring that every aspect of these construction projects is meticulously managed, all while keeping us on budget and on schedule. From carefully reviewing each phase of construction to coordinating daily with our architect and general contractor, they oversee every detail - scope, cost, timelines, and risk management. A standing ovation to Jonathan Beers, CFO, Kyle Gailloreto, Director of Golf, Aaron Ohloff, Golf Course Superintendent, Ron Parris, CEO, Stef Perino, Director of Strategic Initiatives, and Jicham Zaatini, Director of Racquets Sports, who have been instrumental in keeping these projects on track. Special recognition also goes to the Construction Committee, who has played a key role in the overall success - thank you to Nader Ardalan, Jack Condon, Karyn Dobson, Brad Green, Gary Lapidas and Richard Tilghman, for your invaluable contributions! AT THE COURTYARD Construction continues at The Courtyard with plumbing rough work is kicking off this week at the Bar Pavilion, bringing us closer to the completion of this key social hub. Meanwhile, the Pickleball Courts have already installed the drainage system, and they are now ready for the asphalt base phase, which will allow the forming of the foundation on the courts.

PRACTICE FACILITies The extended driving range is complete along with the creation of nine new target greens. The new Short Game area, featuring two Chipping Greens, has also been added. Adjustments were made to #1 Green Course to accommodate the Short Game area, and #9 Green Tee was modified to make room for a new lake, with a rock wall built along the left side of the #9 Green Fairway. The Tees on #1 White and #1 Gold have been re-built to create space for The Courtyard. A few key tasks remain, including connecting the lake pipes from #2 Green to the Driving Range lake, installing landscape features, and building the #1 Green Tees, which is delayed due to the Golf Learning Center construction. Additionally, we’re excited to begin construction on the new Croquet Lawn, which will be a great addition to our recreational offerings. golf learning center The interior framing is moving along swiftly with a focus on ceiling framing. We are excited to start mechanical and electrical rough-ins and by the end of the week, window installation will be underway, giving the buildings a more complete look! The stage is set for the final phases of development, with stucco and lime rock base work commencing at both The Courtyard and The Golf Learning Center, bringing us closer to the finishing touches on the exterior. CART BARN RENOVATION We have more exciting news! As part of the FY2024 Capital Improvements and our ongoing Reserve Study, the Cart Barn will undergo much-needed renovations. The existing facilities have fallen short of Wyndemere’s standards, with outdated conditions, ineffective air conditioning, and an overall appearance that requires improvement. The renovations will include a new roof and updates to the Cart Attendants area, which features a bathroom and break room. The demolition work is officially scheduled to begin on Monday, October 7th! This is another significant step forward in our journey to enhance Wyndemere for all of our Members and improve our overall operations.

DUPLICATE BRIDGE
Wyndemere’s Duplicate Bridge game resumes on Monday, October 21, in the Wyndemere Room of the Clubhouse. All Wyndemere Members are welcome. You must bring a partner, and the cost for the sanctioned game is $8.00. Please be in your seat at 12:15 P.M. so our director can determine which bridge movement is needed, and the game can begin promptly at 12:30 P.M. Complimentary beverages, a vegetable tray, and cookies will be served. Bridge players are asked not to eat when the group is in the process of playing our duplicate game. There will be an approximately 10-minute break midway for a food and restroom break. Usually, the bridge game goes till approximately 4:00 so plan accordingly. Unless there is an emergency, the director will not fill in for a player. If you have any questions, please call Brenda Gisriel or Beth Eberhard who organizes the weekly game. Beth’s phone number is (440) 967-5502, and her email is betheberhard@gmail.com. Reservations are not needed, but, again, you must bring your own partner. If you need a partner, let Brenda or Beth know, and we will do our best to find you one. We hope everyone had a wonderful summer, and we look forward to an enjoyable year of bridge for all.
