WDCGA: Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association

The WDCGA continues her centennial year well represented by ANCC golfers. August was a busy month. The sister team of Danielle Hetzler and Natalie Foley placed 5th Net in the Tony Marlowe tournament held at Woodmont Country Club. Team Pam Quinn, Jill VanTine, Susan Walthall, and Gwen House placed1st Net in the Anniversary Tournament held at Kenwood G&CC while ANCC member Judi Enright with Mt Vernon teammates Debbie Simpson, Linda Divall, and Sarah Alvarez placed 2nd Gross. In the Church Calomiris Cup, the only couples tournament, Gwen and Chris House placed 3rd Gross at River Bend CC. ANCC faired well in the August Cups held at Country Club of Fairfax. Mary Blair brought home the Class D Kaufman Cup, Jaehwa Kim placed low net and Laurie Bravo place 3rd Gross. Susan Walthall placed 2nd net in the Class C York Flower Bowl. In the B Class Coffman Cup, Didi Summers placed 3rd Gross with Andi Carpenter placing 5th Gross. The Senior Championship at Hidden Creek CC is pending in September. In October, all season winners are invited to compete against each other at Montgomery CC. The season wraps up in November with the “by invitation” President’s Cup at TPC Avenel. Typically the President thanks the season’s volunteers by inviting them to play her club. The WDCGA membership dues are collected in the Fall. If you are an existing member, stand by for an email regarding membership and desire the play spring matchplay. WGO-18 Women’s 18 Hole Golf Organization

The WGO18 ladies enjoyed the beautiful early fall weather in September, with many members volunteering for the highly successful AJGA Junior Solheim Cup held on the Arlington campus. Our Irish Open, a five-round team matchplay event, was held September 3, 4 and 6, with Danielle Hetzler and Cheryl Daly winning overall top champions. Our annual Pink Ribbon Tournament in support of breast cancer research was held with Pam Quinn and Susan Walthall winning overall top honors with a net score of 62 and Linda Nguyen and Lisa Moore winning top gross score of 72. As our season wraps to a close, members will be playing in the fun annual Halloween tournament scramble October 11 followed by the President’s Plate Tournament October 25th and the annual Fall luncheon and General Business Meeting 1 November.
