Provide answers to the instructor’s questions about consequences from under tightening and over tightening (torque and tension)
Select and use the appropriate correct tightening tool for the given task
Share examples of bolted connections in a wind turbine
Provide peer feedback from the practical exercise
Share understandings and considerations with instructors and other participants
Take responsibility for their learning by seeking guidance and clarification when in doubt
Instruction: the instructor should demonstrate how to correctly carryout 1 stage and 2 stage torquing prior to participants completing the activities, including a demonstration of how to mark the bolts
Note
Safety: to reduce the risk of injury and damage to bolts and equipment it is recommended to use lower torque settings to complete practical torquing activities
ELEMENT 5.3 - BOLT LOOSENING
Learning objective:
67) The participants can act independently to, safely and correctly, loosen bolts using electric or hydraulic torquing tools and accessories (Ability, intermediate level)
The instructor shall:
Facilitate activities where participants are required to loosen bolts using hydraulic torquing tools and accessories
Continuously assess participant engagement and learning by actively asking participants to share their understandings and reflect on their actions and considerations
Provide participants with instruction, guidance and feedback as required to ensure that learning objectives are met
The participants shall:
Complete the scenario-based activities to specification
Share understandings and considerations with instructors and other participants
