The participants shall:

In pairs or small groups discuss and share their knowledge and provide examples of tool hazards and risks of injury using different kinds of handheld tools to answer the instructor's questions

In pairs or small groups discuss and share their knowledge and experience of short- and long-term effects of injuries from manual and powered handheld tools

Suggest actions relevant in the wind industry for correct and safe use of powered handheld tools to mitigate injuries

ELEMENT 3.2 - WHY MECHANICAL SAFETY

Learning objectives:

23) The participants can discuss the safety risks and hazards in mechanical systems (Knowledge, intermediate level)

24) The participants can explain the importance of mechanical safety (Knowledge, intermediate level)

25) The participants can take responsibility for securing tools, equipment, accessories, minor components, items, and parts by adequately tethering to prevent dropped objects (Ability, intermediate level)

26) The participants can explain potential increased hazards from adverse environmental conditions in relation to dropped objects and the need for tethering (Knowledge, intermediate level)

27) The participants can show interest in taking correct precautions to prevent dropped objects in relation to encountering adverse environmental conditions (Ability, basic level)

The instructor shall:

Facilitate group discussions on the safety risks and hazards in mechanical systems (e.g. bruises, squeezing, rotation, fluids, trapping, slipping, pinching)

Present participants with different hand tools and tether equipment, asking them to point out the following 3 points:
