In the following practical exercises, provide opportunities for participants to take initiative conducting pre-and post-use inspections of different tools, such as a manual torque wrench, corded electrical tool, or battery operated tool
Note
The participants shall:
In pairs or small groups, share knowledge and experiences of the possible outcomes and incidents arising from the use of modified, unauthorized, or incorrect tooling for a given task
In pairs or small groups investigate manufacturer documentation (manuals, risk assessments guidelines) and company specific procedures and share a list of generic principles on how to conduct pre- and post- use inspections on electrical handheld tools and why these inspections are mandatory
Discuss the potential hazards of using damaged tools and how to remove damaged tools from service, placing them into quarantine according to company procedures
Discuss their roles and responsibilities in relation to using the correct tooling for a given task and for removing damaged tools from service
Share knowledge and experiences of incidents caused due to incorrect storage and transportation of tools and components
Find examples in manufacturer specifications and company specific procedures of how to safely store and transport tools and components to ensure tool integrity

56) The participants can explain the short- and long-term risks from exposure to vibration from the use of handheld tools (Knowledge, intermediate level)
