57) The participants can show interest to ensure the correct pressure setting for air powered tools, such as pneumatic impact wrenches, torque wrenches, sanders, and grinders (Ability, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Present a selection of tools to accommodate the participants’ discussions about the hierarchy of tooling
Facilitate the participants’ discussion about potential hazards from using tools lower in the hierarchy
Facilitate an exercise where the participants choose tools for different task assignments and provide feedback to the participants on their choices
Facilitate group discussions on the importance and performance of a pre-use check on tools
Present different standards of sockets, e.g. an impact and a standard socket
Demonstrate the correct application and size of a manual tightening tool
Facilitate participant investigation of manufacturer documentation about socket securing systems
Discuss potential consequences of using a non-impact socket
When asked by the instructor explain quality differences and intended use for various sockets.
Show the consequences of incorrect manual tightening tool use (through examples or storytelling e.g. on Philips vs. Pozi drive type tools)
Demonstrate how to use an electrical impact gun so as to not exceed approved bolt torque and avoid hand-arm vibration syndrome
Explain and demonstrate how to mitigate the risk of short- and long-term injuries from working with vibrating handheld tools. Examples of vibrating tools: Impact wrench, grinding machine, vibrating sander
Facilitate practice for the participants in selecting and using manual tightening tools
Give constructive feedback on the participants’ discussions about pre-use check on tools and the participants’ selection and use of manual and powered tools, and provide further information where relevant
The participants shall:
Engage in a group discussion about the importance and performance of a pre-use check on tools
